Neuro E-portfolio Reflection
My favorite day in class this whole semester is when my professor Larissa taught us
some very useful transfers to use with neurological patients. I wish I had known them before I
went to my SNF in the beginning of summer semester because they would have been very
beneficial with some of the elderly patients I worked with. By knowing how to complete safe
and appropriate transfers, you are able to create a bond of trust between yourself and the
patient who is relying on you for your care and expertise. Knowing how to transfer safely is also
important for the clinician. By having the appropriate body mechanics and using gravity and
momentum to aid in transfers, it helps prevent injuries to you and your patient.
