Advanced concepts of GD&T IMTMA Technology Centre
Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association
19 - 20 February 2013, SKF College Campus, SKF India Ltd., Chinchwad, Pune www.imtma.in
BACKGROUND
The Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing systems have been getting evolved over the last 20 plus years continuously. Globalization in various
streams of engineering has been instrumental in defining the details and implementation . ASME has revised and improvised the definitions in the
last release of year 2009 with examples in which almost all the readers find their own parallels.
However, thorough understanding is a must across the design, manufacturing and quality teams for implementing GD&T and realizing the true
benefits in terms of interchangeability, reduced cost, reduced re work, simplified inspection & gauging etc. Keeping this in view, IMTMA is organizing a
two day workshop on “Advanced concepts of GD&T” on 19-20 February 2013 at Pune.
The program will be focusing on application and interpretation of GD&T interlaced with interesting real life examples which the participants from
various industries will be able to identify with. Participants can seek solutions from the expert faculty for discussing and solving their specific issues in
design /product development.
FOCUS AREAS
Review of Definitions and basic symbols Composite Tolerancing - Profile
Major revisions in the ASME Y14.5-2009 version Interpretation of drawings with GD & T notations
Modifier Symbols- MMC, LMC and RFS Impact on Development & Gauge design
Bonus Tolerance Case studies
Modifier Symbols- MMB, LMB and RMB Group Discussions on typical myths in GD & T area- Video
Datum shift clips for clarification
New modifier symbols added in the new version Interaction on specific drawings / designs from industries
Composite Tolerancing – Position
FACULTY
The program will be conducted by Ms. Alka Pande with about 30 years of experience in Automobile & Heavy Engineering Industries in Design , Product
development & Quality Assurance areas at an apex level. The organizations she has worked in are Voltas Limited , Purolator India Limited, Kalyani
Brakes Limited / Bosch Chassis systems from where she retired and has been consulting and training as a freelance Consultant since 2010.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
This program will be useful to Middle/ senior management team members from functions of Product Design, Process Planning, Production, and
Quality Assurance from Machine Tool, Automobile & auto ancillaries, Tool Rooms, Consumer Durables, Aerospace, Defence & Railway
establishments, General Engineering industries. Particularly useful for people from organizations with a global footprint as well as for team members
who are part of decision making in Design / development CFT's.
PRE REQUISITES
This will be an advanced level programme. Hence basic knowledge of GD&T principles and blue print reading will be a pre requisite for participants to
understand and appreciate the advanced concepts.
If participants have specific problems in applying GD&T or interpretation of designs with GD&T, they can send these in a format, which will be
provided by IMTMA on registration. Information needs to be given to IMTMA at least 10 days in advance, so that directions/ solutions to their
problems can be discussed during the workshop.
Company nominating 3 or more delegates will get a concession of 10% per delegate.
Fees includes participation, course material, working Lunch & Tea/Coffee. Companies interested in participation are requested to return the attached
‘Reply form’ duly filled along with Demand Draft/ at par cheque in favour of ‘Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association payable at Pune to the
address mentioned in the reply form.
REGISTRATION
