RETELLING
( ABOUT STUDY TOUR IN WADUK SERMO )

On Thursday, 18 July 2019. We Akatirta students do field visits in the Waduk Sermo,
at 06:30 a.m. students are required to gather in Samapta Gor to depart together at the Waduk
Sermo. On the way we stopped for a moment to rest at a Pertamina, after the break we continued
the journey and we realized that at the middle of the trip our friends were left behind, then we
waited for him by the roadside, after he arrived we continued the journey. We arrived at the
Waduk Sermo around 09:40 a.m. until there we got information from the sermo reservoir
officer, after getting socialization from our officers we conducted a research on water quality
by taking water samples from the Waduk Sermo. It turns out that the Sermo reservoir is also
used by PDAM to produce clean water to be distributed to local residents. At approximately
02.00 we gathered again in the bus parking lot for ishoma, after the ishoma activity we
continued our journey to the glagah beach.
At 4:00 a.m., we arrived at Glagah Beach. There the waves are very fierce so it is not
allowed to swim on the beach because the glagah beach includes the coast off the Indian Ocean,
so we just played on the beach, playing sand, taking pictures and others. so we just played on
the beach, playing sand, taking pictures and others, after sunset we rushed to the restaurant to
pray maghrib and do dinner. Then we continued the journey back to Magelang at around 19:00

WATER PROCESS WHICH IS HAPPEN

FROM SERMO RESERVOIR INTO WATER
THAT CAN BE CONSUMED
BY SOCIETY

1. Talking Raw Water

Raw water is taken from the water resource through intake. Intake functioned to
catch the water source as needed for clean water management. Intake is equipped with
a screen bar that functioned to filter waste materials contained in water. This process is
called Pre-Sedimentation
2. Coagulation
Coagulation is the process of giving Chemical potassium alum sulphate into
water so that impurities in water in the form of suspended solid such as fine sludge,
bacteria, etc can clot and settle quickly.
3. Flocculation
Flocculation is process of floc formation as a result of the combination of collids
in raw water with coagulationts the formalion of floc will occur well if added by
coagulants into water then slow stirring is carried out.
4. Sedimentation
After the coagulation and flocculation process, the water is left until the lump of
dirt that formed has settles to the bottom of the sedimentation building. After the dirt
settles, the water will be cleaner.
5. Filtration
Then, the water is filtered to remove the smooth of sediment and small impurities
that are still left behind. Filtration is done by flowing the water that has been sedimented
by the impurities filter tub consisting of silica sand filters.
6. Desinfection
Giving disinfectant ( Chlorine ) on the results of filtration ase for reduce bacterial
concentration in general and eliminate disease-causing bacteria ( pathogens )
7. Reservoir
Then, Clean water is stored in the reservoir and ready to be distributed to
consumers.
