GRADUATION MASS LITURGY

INTRODUCTION

COMMENTATOR:
Graduation is always a time of looking back and remembering the stages
that have gotten you/us to this point. Each year will have its own memory and
each class will have its own memory of that year.
Kindly all stand as we begin the celebration of the Eucharist!
OPENING PRAYER:
PRIEST:
GOD OUR FATHER, YOU ARE THE GIVER OF ALL GOOD GIFTS. YOU
SURROUND US IN THIS WORLD WITH THE BEAUTY OF CREATION AND INVITE US
TO WALK IN YOUR PRESENCE EACH DAY! AS WE COME TO THE END OF OUR TIME
TOGETHER IN THIS INSTITUTION, LET US BE THANKFUL FOR ALL WE HAVE
ACHIEVED THROUGH YOU. WE ASK THIS THROUGH CHRIST OUR LORD.

ALL: AMEN
FIRST READING: PHILIPPIANS 4:4-9
A reading from the letter of Paul to the Philippians.
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be
known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in
everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be
made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, beloved, whatever is
honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is
commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise,
think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and
received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.
THE WORD OF THE LORD.
ALL: THANKS BE TO GOD!
RESPONSORIAL PSALM: PSALM 100
THE LORD MADE US, WE BELONG TO HIM
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
Come into his presence with singing. (Response)

Know that the Lord is God.

It is he that made, and we are his;
We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. (Response)

Enter his gates with thanksgiving,

And his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him, bless his name. (Response)

For the Lord is good;

His steadfast love endures forever,
And his faithfulness to all generations. (Response)

GOSPEL: JOHN 15:9-17

A READING FROM THE HOLY GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JOHN

As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Abide in my love. If you
keep my precepts, you shall abide in my love, just as I have also kept my Father’s
precepts and I abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, so that my joy
may be in you, and your joy may be fulfilled. This is my commandment, that you
love one another, just as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this; that
he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command
you. I will no longer call you servants, for the servant does not know what his
Lord is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything whatsoever that I
have heard from my Father, I have made known to you. You have not chosen me,
but I have chosen you. And I have appointed you, so that you may go forth and
bear fruit, and so that your fruit may last. Then whatever you have asked of my
Father in my name, he shall give to you. This I command you: that you love one
another.
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD.

ALL: PRAISE TO YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST!
