Summer 2007

Overview
Dear Business colleagues,
It's my pleasure to introduce to you the 6th edition of
Fagioli Group Newsletter.

Fagioli is a growing and fast-moving company, always

ready to adapt itself to a more challenging and dynamic
market. A market, in which quality and HSE
requirements, globalisation, professionalism, know-how
and cost-effectiveness are the key fundamentals.

Over the last 6 months Fagioli has continued growing as

a group, has been recognised for its high level
performances, expertise and high profile engineering
capabilities within the Heavy Transport and Lifting
industry on a global basis. For all these reasons Fagioli
management thought that it was the right time to change
the name of all its international 100% group-owned
branches into one simple word: FAGIOLI. One Group,
One Name, One Brand.
The first six months of 2007 have gone in a flash with Fagioli group team
committed to execute several demanding projects. Among all, the Adriatic
LNG project in Spain. Thanks to the innovative engineering solutions
IN THIS ISSUE proposed to the client, Fagioli was awarded the heavy transport, lifting and

installed in the Adriatic sea 15 km far
from Po river in Italy, to be used as an
important gas supply for the whole
country.

This will be a concrete terminal, first of its

kind in the world with gigantic
dimensions (180m x 88m x 47m). Once
the construction has been completed the
casting basin will be flooded and the
terminal sea transported from Spain to
Italy.

The purpose of this terminal is to receive

natural gas in liquid form from tanker
vessels every three days, for storage
and subsequent re-gasification at its final

Heavy Rail Transport Young Hung 4 Chimney Erection

Railway transport is an important activity within
Fagioli’s portfolio of services. Thanks to a long
experience within this field Fagioli performed the
transport of a 210 tonne trafo from Cavatigozzi near
Cremona to Vasto S. Salvo (CH). A long trip from
North to Central Italy by means of group-owned 20
axles rail cars.

Fagioli PSC Korea carried out the lift and installation of Chimney
Steel Can sections weighing a total of 322Ton for Young Hung #4 in
Korea. The lift required four L100 jacks & one L4/14E power pack.

most challenging points was an underpass in
Saronno (north west of Milan). 5.2m meters of

The flexibility of the modular trailers allowed the
whole convoy to be lowered 15cm necessary to pass

column will be loaded and transported by means of
group-owned barge to Venice.
Fagioli performed the transport of a 210 tonne transformer from
Legnano to Chieti with final destination Termoli. Fagioli loaded the
heavy item and supports specially made for rail transport onto a 22
axles road convoy (11 + 11) and transported to Busto Arsizio.

rail cars the item reached its destination to Vasto San Salvo.

This is another example of the integrated services which Fagioli have

to offer there clients, combining road and heavy rail transport.

Bugok Phase II CCPP - S/G Wartsila Conselice

Fagioli PSC Korea
carried out the lift and
installation of two,

Steam Generators onto their foundations.
They were then transported by road from port to Conselice plant by
means of a 14 + 14 axles convoy supported with a structure typically
used in heavy rail transports, and with coupled tows. The unloading
operation onto foundations was performed with a jack-in down system.

Fagioli also performed the transport of 3 generators dimension 5.5m

x 4.1m x 4.3m, weighing 72 tonne each from S. Vitale port to
Conselice by means of an 8 axles trailer. The unloading operations
were performed using Fagioli’s 400 tonne capacity gantry crane.
Once the transports had been completed Fagioli assembled the
engines with the generators using the 400 tonne capacity gantry
crane and carried out the final positioning onto foundations of the 3
assembled pieces weighing 350 tonnes each.

The flexibility of Fagioli equipment has helped to safely perform the

whole operations in restricted areas.

49m Reactor Transport

The transportation of an extremely long reactor was carried out by Fagioli
from Milan to Mantua. Dimensions were as follows: 49m long, 3.6m wide,
3.8m tall, weighing 145 tonne.

The transport was successfully performed with a 2 x 6 axles modular

trailers with turntables. Engineering department was well involved in
moving such a long piece for more than 150 km. The first obstacle was
how to get out of the client premises due to warehouses restrictions, walls
and gate. Thanks to an extraordinary flexibility of the trailers; the
engineering department choice for the most suitable configuration;
expertise of Fagioli drivers, the long reactor was safely "conducted"
outside the client factory with some very precise manoeuvring. On the
way to Mantua, road signs were removed, electric wires were raised and
repositioned, roundabout literally overtaken to allow this long "snake-
shaped convoy" to gently sneaking through the silent and lightless cities for 3 nights. The column will be loaded and transported
by means of group-owned barge to Venice.

Ratchuburi Power Plant T1400 Telegantries Boryung Power Plant #7

Fagioli PSC Korea carried out the lift and installation of
a 226 Ton Steam Generator for Boryung power plant
#7 in Korea. The lift required four L100 jacks & one
L4/14E power pack, the installation required two L15
jacks & Hillman roller and turn table.

Once the Steam Generators had been lifted into the

steel structure, it was then placed on the turn table by
pulling jacks and then turned 90 degrees, connected to
the moving gantry which installed the Steam
Generators onto their foundations.

Fagioli Asia were contracted by Yew Choon Pte Ltd to provide

the T1400 telegantries system for the handling of heavy plant for
the Ratchaburi Power Plant, Thailand.

The delivery of the heavy plant, via barges which received the
heavy plant from the ocean-going ship, is hindered by the low
height / clearance of some bridges enroute to the off-loading
jetty near Ratchaburi job-site. It become necessary to transfer
the heavy plant directly onto the deck of the barge, gaining more
than a metre in height tolerance in comparison with having the
plant being supported on steel stools. Upon arrival at the off-
loading jetty, the plant was lifted to enable the transportation
trailer to take them away.

of the barge.

Boiler and Dismantled Crane Transport

Fagioli loaded a boiler onto their M/V Storm at Marghera port using a ro-ro
operation by means of SPMTs. The boiler weighed 380 tonne with
dimensions of 14.5m x 10.65m x 16.8m. Fagioli SPMTs rolled the boiler
onto the ship and placed the boiler onto stools where they performed the
sea-fastening, lashing and securing of the boiler. The boiler was destined
to Al Jubail (Saudi Arabia).

The M/V then sailed to Brindisi to load a dismantled crane which consisted
of a crawler and tower section, weighing 217 tonne, a jib (in 2 sections), 3
counterweights, 7 ancillary parts.

The total journey started in Marghera, then went onto Brindisi, Al Jubail and
final destination. Fagioli’s shipping department has been very active in the
Mediterranean, Gulf area and Indian Ocean this year.

Transport of 320 Tonne Exchanger

In late June a combination of different
transport activities was performed by
Fagioli team in the North of Italy. The
scope of work was to move a 320
tonne exchanger by means of 14
axles SPMTs inside the factory. The
vessel was loaded and transported in
the inner courtyard and positioned in
a dedicated zone, ready for the
operations of sandblasting and
painting. After these "treatments" the
exchanger was lifted by group owned
gantry cranes and positioned onto
different trailers with a modified axle
configuration. The transport was than

Heavy Transportation for the Shipyard Industry

Transportation of a Ferry Boat Sea transport of a ship section

Fagioli has a vast track record in heavy transportation of ship
sections and launching of new sea vessels. With a large fleet of
equipment Fagioli is able to help shipyards move large sections of
new and old ships, ferry boats and entire vessels within their
premises as well as participating in the load out operations onto
barges.

These huge transports in terms of dimensions and weight are ideal

for Fagioli to undertake, with sophisticated engineering capabilities
and a fleet of specially built equipment. All transports are safely
performed taking care of all the quality procedures and safety
requirements.

An example of this kind of activity was the transport and launching

Project Logistics

Freight Forwarding - Many Competitors.... More Satisfaction!

When we talk about freight forwarding, most of us would relate it to the delivery of small parcels. Whereas if we talk about heavy
transport and lifting we think of large spectacular engineering jobs. Traditionally this was the case but today Freight Forwarding
covers so much more, such as ro-ro traffics, break bulk shipments, containers, overland transportation, rail or airfreight
deliveries, loading and unloading, stuffing and un-stuffing as well as storage in close or open areas.

In the last issue of the News letter we mentioned that Fagioli is the only Project Logistics company with a full range of group
owned equipment (ships, barges, SPMTs, strand jacks, tower lift etc….) for heavy transport and lifting activities. Fagioli also
own equipment dedicated to Freight Forwarding projects such as containers, normal trucks and trailers, small and medium
range cranes as well as storage facilities at main ports. With a complete range of equipment Fagioli are able to cover every
possible kind of transport, lifting and logistical requirement with a high level of professionalism!!

During the construction of a plant, whether you are transporting by normal trailers, air transportation, ocean going vessels, carrying
out container deliveries or large reactors, every single activity involving the movement of any single item has its relevant importance!!

Fagioli know that the delay of an item, no matter what size could stop the entire plant development!! And this is the key we use
for supplying old Customers and acquiring new names competing with an
indefinite number of Competitors formed by the small Freight forwarder just
situated next door to the Customer as well as the international world wide Group
established everywhere on the territory. Most of them are dedicated to specific
trades and commodities while certain well known Companies handle huge
volumes of cargoes and attack the market from a strong position.

It doesn't make any difference if we are handling spare parts for automotive
production, components for the aerospace industry (which involves a complete
range of worldwide road, air, sea services) projects to/from the Maghreb area

Notes From the Project Logistics Department

As outlined in previous issues of this news letter, Fagioli has taken
advantage of the present boom situation with in the Oil & Gas market,
particularly in the Middle East region.

As far as the future is concerned, we are constantly monitoring the

market and developing our synergies with our Clients. We expect our
market share to grow quite considerably in the next 4 to 6 years
through our long-term investments. Of course this is only a forecast
but the first indications are coming from the market itself.

As well as the various projects already under execution, we have the

opportunity to further develop ourselves internationally, with the
