PT PJB UP Gresik is one of the service companies in
the field of electric power production in the Gresik industrial
area. The amount of power produced by this company is
2,260 Megawatts (MW) which consists of two gas and steam
power plants. PT PJB up Gresik has production support
equipment. Among the supporters is a condenser.
Condenser is one type of heat exchanger that
functions to condense gas fluid to liquid. The condenser is the
main component in the PLTU cycle which is the biggest
cause of losses in the cycle and can affect the efficiency of a
generator. If the heat transfer rate is low, the net work will
increase. Knowing the role of the condenser is very important
in a cycle, it is necessary to do the heat transfer rate and the
effectiveness of the 4PT Unit condenser. PLTU UP Gresik.
The data taken from this final project is the actual
average data for 1 month, June 2018. The calculation method
for analyzing the effect of vacuum pressure on heat transfer
rate and effectiveness is Log Mean Temperature Different
(LMTD) and Effectiveness - Number of Transfer Units (
NTU).From the results of calculations, with vacuum data
which is 0.05985 bars in June it is known that the heat transfer

iii
rate is 71.38211565 MW with an effectiveness of 0.9880793.
The heat transfer rate on the condenser is influenced by the
condenser vacuum condition. The higher the vacuum
condenser, the easier the steam to go to the condenser so that
it increases the performance of the condenser.
