5 Secrets to a Successful Teaching Career

Teaching is a profession unlike any other. It is a way of life, a passion and a calling. Teachers do
not just teach in a classroom

, they are teachers everywhere. Every child is a student and every opportunity is a teachable
moment. Unlock the Five Secrets to a Successful Teaching Career below and prepare for a
rewarding experience.
Be Resourceful
teaching requires a great deal of thinking outside the box. Being resourceful means that a teacher
is constantly searching to find new ways of teaching students and supplying her classroom with
the materials she needs. A resourceful teacher is not afraid to try innovative lessons to reach her
students and make learning fun. By being resourceful a teacher keeps her classroom well stocked
and her students engaged which are two key components to a long, happy career.
Be Adaptable
Sometimes the hardest, but most effective thing a teacher can do is to be adaptable. It requires a
great deal of self-confidence to change direction of a lesson or project mid-stream. When a
teacher takes her own plans out of the equation and really looks at what is best for her students,
she is adapting to the most important component of her job - the children. Adapting lessons for
whatever reason, whether it is for a student with a disability, a slow learner or an ESL student,
takes more work than not adapting them. However, success in teaching is not measured by a
paycheck, but by the amount of learning that takes place. Being adaptable will make any teacher
a better educator with students who will be the richer for her efforts.
Find Balance
It is easy to slip into 24-hour/7-day-a-week teacher mode. Lesson plans always need to be done,
papers to grade will always be piled high and forms will always need to be completed. If
allowed, teaching can take over an educator's life. It is critical to a long-term successful teaching
career, that balance between work and life is found. Set designated time to complete the
paperwork that needs to be finished and when that time is over stop working! Reading a
frivolous book, listening to music or going for a walk will help keep life balanced. If a teacher is
unable to find balance, her career will be short-lived.
Continue Learning
Most states require a teacher to continue her education beyond a bachelor's degree. While it may
be an essential part of maintaining a teaching license, it is also a great way to stay fresh and
current with new teaching methods and ideas. Teaching is not a stagnant profession. Even though
many approaches and practices are traditionally based, there are always new things to learn. The
cost of continuing education is always a factor, so be resourceful and seek out community
colleges and other places that provide continuing education credits for teachers.
Have Fun
One of the best parts about working with children is that it is fun. Laughter and smiles are a daily
part of any teacher's routine. Students love seeing their teacher in a funny wig or with a bright
scarf wrapped around her neck. Enjoy teaching! Do not be afraid to be colorful both in dress and
personality. The more fun had, the longer and more successful a teaching career will be.
Teaching is a calling. Enjoy the fact that it is one that is available and attainable. Embrace the
challenges and the rewards with equal fervor knowing that a child's life will be forever changed.
Use the Five Secrets to a Successful Teaching Career to guide the journey and encourage along
the way.

Management

classroom

belongs to both teachers and students, and it is also a process which teaching and management
enhance their perfect, they take effect mutually. Only if do teachers manage the classroom
effectively, students’ thoughts will be positive, and then it can be a place where the students get
good harvest in their study. Good classroom management is the premise of enhancing the
effectiveness of teaching; however, if the classroom is not in a good order, it will not be
effective. We must improve the quality of classroom management, and find some different kinds
of strategies. This paper introduces three main strategies and their effects, such as create a
harmonious classroom atmosphere, managing classroom time effectively, raising a good
discipline, which are of vital importance to English teaching. Make the classroom instruction and
management achieve the best harmonious state, and then the students can study very well.
1Three Main Strategies of English Classroom Management
1.1
Building a Harmonious Classroom Atmosphere
1.2
Manage the Classroom Time Effectively
1.3
Raising a Good Discipline in Classroom
1 Strict but Flexible
Strict request is the basic requirement for the teacher to take responsibility to teaching and
students. But strict should be appropriate, this means that the strict should be flexible; after all,
the classroom is not a military camp, it is not necessary for the students to do every thing
according to the uniform. If teachers want to achieve “strict but not inflexible”, they should be
full of love and kindness when they are managing the classroom discipline, “something one does
not want to do, do not request others to do”, what one does not want or can not bear, do not
impose it on others, because, as far as I am concerned, the purpose of education is to awaken
human beings, awaken personality with personality, awaken mind with mind.
Energetic but Not Excessive
What is flexibility? It refers to the students’ thoughts. What need to be restrained are students’
behaviors. Full of energy means the students should invest much energy and interest in their
study. When students’ thoughts are free, the teacher should guide the students how to think and
what they should think. The students’ thoughts should be varied and free, should be about to the
contents of books. If students’ thoughts and behaviors are not living, but chaotic, so there needs
teachers’ constant effort to raise some good disciplines. What’s more, the class recess is the time
that teachers and students relax and rest, so they should participate together, play together,
simultaneously, this is good for their health, can also shorten the distance between teachers and
students.
Mutual Respect
If students’ thinking and thoughts are active, so the next question is that everybody has their
own viewpoint, all have their own ideas, each one wants to express and speak out, it is no doubt
that these cases are positive, but if these actions are excessive, it can cause a bad result. Students
do not listen to teachers, and they don’t accept others’ opinions, and there is only participation
and expression, but no accept and hearing, thus students do not get progress, they do not know
how to respect the teachers, the classmates, this is not our purpose of education. At this time,
mutual respect is very important. When teachers are asking questions, students should listen
carefully; when classmates are answering questions, other students should be quiet, should hear
what they said, don’t interrupt them, and then raise their own ideas,

How To Create Innovation In The Classroom
MjQyNjMw

Edit Article |
Innovation is a prominent theme in classroom teaching, leading the way towards more effective
learning for students of all ages. However, innovation is also present – and possible – in many
forms, enabling educators to adopt variations of it based on classroom structures and student
needs.
When considering classroom innovation, many people often picture state of the art computers,
interactive whiteboards, and digital technologies – all of which are excellent tools for innovative
classroom teaching. Students now have access to a number of technologies that deliver enhanced
learning experiences, helping them to focus on lessons, encouraging them to participate in class,
and providing a fun learning environment in many respects. However, educational innovation
spreads beyond technological tools. There are even more ways that the idea of "innovation" has -
and still does - apply to classroom teaching.
Teaching tools aside, many teachers implement innovative modes of teaching in the classroom –
whether or not that incorporates technological resources or tools. Whether it's a style of teaching
that focuses on creativity, one that encourages leadership, or a method that prompts students to
participate more in class, teachers are always coming up with novel ideas on how to make their
lessons more effective and interesting for students. Many teachers use games and group work
structures in their classrooms, while others implement "mobile learning" – a method of learning
that places importance on student movement. Many more educators place special importance on
"learner" voices, which means listening to - and acting upon - student voices.
Creating or moving towards an interesting learning environment is another way teachers are
incorporating innovation into their lessons and teaching methods. For many, this involves taking
students on field trips relevant to their lessons, while for others, it's simply about giving students
a change of scenery from the classroom – perhaps by way of an outdoor campus lesson.
Whatever the tactic, choosing appropriate and interesting learning spaces is an important part of
implementing innovation in education.
So, whether you choose to utilise state of the art classroom technology, adopt an innovative
mode of teaching, or choose learning spaces based on unique classroom and student needs,
remember that innovation in education can be applied in a number of different ways - all of
which can significantly impact students of all ages. Choose tools, resources, and modes of
teaching that best suit your students' needs, and reap the rewards of innovation in education.
