Dismantling of Horizontal Shaft
Dismantling of Horizontal Shaft
• The horizontal shaft is in 2 parts connected to each other through the friction coupling
• The motor side shaft has the friction coupling
• The pump side shaft has friction coupling drum, worm wheel, pump bearing, housing and
the pump
• Drain Oil from Gear Box
• Remove cover plate on gear box housing to gain access to the worm wheel
• Suspend the motor body through eye bolt through a crane or chain and pulley arrangement
• Unscrew motor flange bolts connecting the motor body with gear box housing
• Remove the motor along with friction coupling
• Remove the friction brake shoes by sliding them out
• Disconnect pump fluid connections
• Disconnect pump from main body by unscrewing the bolts
• Disconnect pump coupling by unscrewing the threaded lock bolt
• Unscrew bearing support housing cover by reaching inside the gear box housing
• Dismantle the pump bearing housing by screwing in the blind bolt
• Remove lock ring and unscrew nut connecting the friction coupling drum on the shaft
• Use a puller to remove friction drum
• The shaft along with worm gear is removed from pump side by slight tapping from the
