LIBRARY: AT A GLANCE

The School Library of Kendriya Vidyalaya A.F.S. Arjangarh caters to the information needs of 50 staff members
and 1300(Aprox.) students. The KV Library is fully automated and offers online services to the members of the
library through this library website and library blogs.

The School library has a collection of more than 12000 books and 47 periodicals. The library also has educational
and general multimedia and is well equipped with two latest multimedia computers with Internet access.

Opening Hours: The library is open every school day from 08 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Library Periods: According to the school time table the students of Class VI-XII can visit the library for the issue
and return of the books during their library periods. They can refer books and participate in library activities
during this time.
Borrowing information: Students: 02 book for a period of 15 days. Faculty and staff: Maximum 05 books for a
period of 15 days.
Class Libraries: Class libraries are functioning for classes I to V.
Open Access and Classification: The library follows an open access system. The books are classified and shelved
accordingly.
Library Automation: The stock and services of the library are automated powered by software named e-
granthalaya provided from N.I. C, Department of I.T., Ministry of Communications & I.T., Govt. of India. The S/W
has been designed by a team of experts from software as well as Library and Information Science discipline.

Objectives of Library:

o Supporting and enhancing educational goals as outlined in K.V. Sangathan’s mission & curriculum.
Effectively participate in the teaching-learning programmes of the school. Be the knowledge hub of the
school and disseminate knowledge as widely as possible.
o Provide a curriculum-based, flexibly scheduled, open access learning environment that accommodates all
learners. Facilitate creation of new knowledge.
o Facilitate optimal use of knowledge by all staff and students. Encourage and foster reading habit among
staff & students. To remain technologically advanced and updated.
o To provide intellectual access to information through learning activities that are integrated into the
curriculum and that help all students achieve information literacy by developing effective cogniti ve
strategies for selecting, retrieving, analyzing, evaluating, synthesizing, creating, and communicating
information in all formats and in all content areas of the curriculum.

The school library fulfills these objectives by developing policies and services, selecting and acquiring resources,
providing physical and intellectual access to appropriate sources of information, providing instructional facilities,
and employing trained staff.
