FIRST DAY
E. Barretto Sr. Elementary School, E. Barretto Sr. National
High merge for ‘Brigada Eskwela’ kick off 2019
Isaac C. Elomina
E. Barretto Sr. Elementary School and E. Barretto Sr. National High School joined force for the ‘ Brigada Eskwe-
la’ kick off 2019.
BE kick off 2019 started at exactly 6:30 in the morning for the registration of participants followed by a parade
held by the teachers, students, parents and other stakeholders within the vicinity of Pansol Calamba City that
signalled the start of BE.
The BE is the National Schools Maintenance Week ( DepEd Memorandum No, 036, s. 2019) that aims to bring
together all education stakeholders to participate and contribute their time, effort, and resources to prepare
public facilities.
Brgy. Chairman Joel ‘WENG’ Martinez, PTA president Mr. Arturo Martinez, and SSG president Ms. Ma. Sanda-
ra P. Lolong attended the said activity.
During the kick off, Mr. Joel Martinez said that he is very proud that he is a product of both schools
which is why his support for the said school is overflowing. “ Nasa Kamay ng mga guro ang tagumpay ng isang
mag-aaral”, he emphasized.
However, Mr. Arturo Martinez also expressed his support for the improvement of the school. “ Gaga-
win po ng pamunuan and buo nitong makakaya upang mapaunlad ang paaralan ng sa ganon magkaroon ng
lalo pang kalidad ng edukasyon sa ating sintang paaralan”, he said.
Meanwhile, this year’s theme “ Matatag na bayan para sa maunlad na paaralan”.

Improper garbage disposal isn’t just an eyesore; it poses serious threat to nature and eventually ruin the health
of people. This is a dilemma that E. Barretto Sr. NHS is facing everyday.
BE steering committee chaired by Mrs. Eloisa M. Unigo was very eager to find new solution to the school’s
main problem-tons of garbage.
“Isa sa problema natin upang mas lalong maging ready ang school for the opening is mawala yung bundok
bundok na basura sa may likod ng office” Mrs. Unigo said.
She emphasized that this tons of garbage can be a source of income. “ isegrate muna natin, yung mga pede
pang irecycle iset aside at yung hindi na baka pede maibenta.” May pera sa basura”, she added.
Last May 22, 2019, third day of BE, through the conglomerated efforts of teachers and volunteers garbage had
been segregated and disposed, used papers were sold and plastic bottles became pots.
Dr. Maria Luisa N. Tamayo said that the money collected from the sold materials will be allotted for the im-
provement of classrooms during the meeting held every four in the afternoon.
She also stressed that through our collective efforts we can make things possible.
Meanwhile, the third day started with the usual routine.
The unfinished activities set yesterday were continued and the activities for the day are also pushed through.
Mothers know best. Parents especially mothers go hand
in hand to remove tons of garbage near the school
grounds. They believe that a school must be a garbage
free for it will be the cause of different serious health
problems.
