Critical appreciation of cradle song

The Cradle song’ is a lullaby sung by a mother over her child as he sleeps
in cradle. It is such a miracle of motherly tenderness and metrical
beauty that we can forgive the lapses of strict grammar in beguiles’
(lines 12, 16,20) and in weep. (line 20) The metrical pattern is to be seen
in the seventh stanza, which is trochaic but in most of the stanzas, the
first and the third lines of the quatrain have a long stresses syllable in
the place of initial trochees.
