Classroom News
We are in the final home stretch. We only have a month and a half
left of the 2018-2019 school year, and it is a busy one!
Our 4th grade show is on Wednesday, May 8th. We will have two
day performances for the school, and an evening performance at
5:30pm. This is a mandatory after-school performance, included as
part of the FAME Program. If for some reason your child cannot
attend the evening performance, please contact me immediately. The
students are very eager to perform for you, so we look forward to
seeing you at the performance!
You may have heard from your child, but if you did not, our class won
the Achieve 3000 “Reach for Reading” contest for the entire school!
Ask your child more about the contest details, and the prize we will
receive as a class. :)
The following kids completed 10 (monthly goal), or more, Achieve 3000
articles in April: Maria, Peter, Matthew, Brianna, and Gage. We were
only in school for 12 days during the month of April, so congratulations
to these kids for achieving this goal in such a short time period!
Lastly, students have less than 8 weeks to complete ST Math, as
well as reach their AR Goal. More than half of the class have
already completed ST Math! Those who finish ST Math will
be rewarded with a party sometime in June!

What We’re Learning This Month:
Language Arts: We will be working on poetry, as well as continuing to
build our reading comprehension skills through Achieve 3000. We will also
continue to work on conventions of the English Language.
Writing: We will continue to work on our opinion writing, and completing a
5-paragraph essay. We will complete our three-paragraph paper on
“When I am all Grown up.”
Math: We will be working on fractions, decimals, two-dimensional shapes,
angles, measurement units, and perimeter/area.
Science: We will be learning about electricity and magnetism.
Social Studies: We will start learning about the transformation of the
California economy and its political and cultural development since the
1850’s.
FAME: We will be performing our 4th grade show,
as well as working on various art projects.
Other Information:
**Please make sure your child brings plenty of water and
healthy snacks to school. Suggestions for healthy snacks:
fruit, vegetables, yogurt, hummus, hard-boiled eggs, granola,
nuts, etc.
**The air conditioner in our class can get very cold, so
please send a sweater with your child every day.
**Make sure students are in the proper dress code, and
come to school on P.E. days (Friday’s) wearing running
shoes. No open-toed shoes allowed, any day of the week.
**Please continue to bring Box Tops for our school.
**Class Dojo is a great tool to keep you informed about
your child’s behavior. Sign up to get daily updates.
**Please sign the weekly report sent home
every Friday, and return it on Monday.
