Reflection about Disaster Preparedness

Now a days, disaster is a serious disruption occurring over a relatively short period
of time, affecting the functioning of a community or a society as it causes
widespread human, material, economic or environmental loss which exceeds the
ability of the affected community or society to cope using its own resources. It is
an unexpected circumstances that cannot be avoided. So, we need to prepare
anytime if it is happened to us. One of the example about disaster is an earthquake.
Earthquake are tremors that move the earth and it happened around the world.
Earthquake can cause a lot of damages to homes, places and buildings. So, it is
important to know the steps or procedures so that we can protect ourselves against
earthquake.

For me or as an individual, we should always prepare all the time and we should
know the steps or procedures so that we can know what are we doing if there is a
disaster. If there is an earthquake first thing that we can do is find or pick a safe
place away from trees, away from windows, bookcases, or tall furniture’s that
could fall on you. Second thing that we can do is the Duck, Cover and Hold on to
the safe place. Drop under the sturdy table or desk and hold on to one leg of the
table and protect your eyes by keeping your head down.
