Assigned Homework: Add these five vectors. Label the
resultant and state the resultant’s magnitude and
direction.
Scale: 1 cm = 10 m
Vector A = 30 m a 0º
Vector B = 40 m @ 90º
Vector C = 50 m @ 135º
Vector D = 50 m @ 225º
Vector E = 40 m @ 270º
Resultant = ___________ @ ____________
This assignment is due Friday, 9/9 (at the beginning of
class).
Sept. 9 Analytical addition of vectors at right angles. Assigned
Homework due Monday, 9/12:
Add the following vectors analytically-
47 m @ 0º
68 m @ 270º

Sept. 12 Review homework (not collected); Worked Sample

Problem 3B (helicopter) from textbook- Resolving
vectors into their “x” and “y” components. Quick pre-
quiz review; Quiz: Graphical Vector Addition and
Analytical Addition of Vectors at Right Angles
Sept. 13 Resolving Vectors into their Components (and adding
them!) Worked Sample Problem 3C from page 95 in our
textbook. Distributed review for test which needs the
following corrections:
#2 - - - Change “mi” to “km”
#5 - - - Change “m/s” to “mi”
#5 - - - Solve both graphically AND
ANALYTICALLY

answer questions 1-6 except 5 (omit #5)on page 44.

Sept 20 Notes on Motion and graphing; Sections 1 and 2 of

Chapter 2. Checked Homework; Assigned Homework:
Work problems 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 on page 47 and Complete
“Interpreting D-T Graphs” Worksheet. Due Tomorrow.

Sept 21, 22 Warm up: 13 questions about the p·t graph; some
classes reviewed homework; LAB: Spark Timer
Toy Car P·T Graph – Due Monday the 26th.

Sept 23 Substitute. Motion graphs: Instructions and Practice

Worksheet; Notes on Acceleration; “Acceleration
Problems” Worksheet. Read pages 48 to 58. Worksheets
And lab reports due Monday.
Important Information about the Accelerations Problems
Worksheet: For the last three questions use -9.8 m/s² as
the value of acceleration. When an object is falling (free-
fall) it gains speed in the downward direction at a rate of
9.8 m/s each second. As long as we disregard air
resistance this is the rate of acceleration for any object
near the surface of the earth. Any object.
Sept. 26 Reviewed Friday’s material: motion diagrams,
accelerated motion word problems.

together as examples) due tomorrow; Read pages 60-64
and 98 – 104 in text. (Begin reading tonight, complete
both sections by Friday. There will be a quiz soon,
probably Friday, on Vertically and Horizontally launched
projectiles
