    1. This assignment has to be prepared as per “DGS requirements for assignments of Extra
    First Class COC Courses”. These requirements have been already communicated to
    you through email.
    2. The assignment is to be sent to faculty in-charge in soft copy with copy to

    TOPIC:

    The total number of protections and degree of protection depends upon power rating, voltage rating and
    criticality of electrical machine. There are many ways to protect such machine and enhance its life.

    ASSIGNMENT: Assignment A

    1. Discuss various techniques in this context for high voltage generator on board ship (LNG carrier) with
    reference to IEEE or IEC or any other class requirements.

    2. Design (block schematic) a complete protection scheme with neighboring zones overlapping.
    Incorporate protection for internal faults. Also consider protection required in case multiple generators are
    operating in parallel. Elaborate further with the help of flow chart.

    TOPIC LENGTH: Main body of the paper, excluding tables, figures and references should be approximately
    1200 words.
