A short background, 1st and 2nd Timothy including Titus are
commonly called, PASTORAL LETTERS….written by
APOSTLE PAUL…. So Timothy was quiet a young Man to
have this important role of leading a Church, so Paul wrote
this very personal letter to Timothy, to give him advice,
warnings, and Paul is instructing Timothy of the danger of
having FALSE TEACHERS….
So in Chaper 6, where Paul unmasked the very root cause
why this False teachers, embrace False teachings…and are
propagating it to use godliness as means to financial gains!

*In teaching about stewardship, I realized that families

and individuals must develop a healthy lifestyle in order to
experience financial health. Good budgets and debt
reduction are not enough………In order to change our
financial future, we have to address what drives our
financial behaviour!
And Jesus taught that our resources give us opportunities
to live faithfully before God and one another……….Money,
for Jesus, was another tool for doing great good in the
world!

ON STEWARDSHIP that, I believe, can change our
lives………These principles are framework for stewarding
our resources for significance in the kingdom of God:

III. THE CHURCH

*this 3rd one is a little bit
controversial…..because ever since……. the
Church has always promoted a healthy spiritual
life……and in doing that……many priest…even
pastors…….have attacked materialism and
wealth……they cite Bible veses like:
MATTHEW 6:24 No man can serve two masters:
for either he will hate the one, and love the
other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise
the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

1 TIMOTHY 6:10 For the love of money is the root

of all evil: which while some coveted after, they
have erred from the faith, and pierced
themselves through with many sorrows.

ECCLESIASTES 5:10 He that loveth silver shall not

be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth
abundance with increase: this is also vanity.

All of these Bible verses are full of wisdom….but

remember that we have to take them into
context and see the bigger picture…..because
actually…..the Bible actually talks more about
money, wealth and finances compared to prayer,
healing and mercy!
 Money and wealth is mentioned in the Bible
over 2,ooo plus times more than:
Prayer – 500 times
Mercy – 250 times
Healing – 50 times

God knew that money would be a very

important part of man’s life…….so He talked
about it a lot!
