Continuous facts originate from application of basic laws of
science towards benefits of human being. Facts arose from new developments as a new source of energy having enormous application in the field of engineering is the laser energy which gives me enthusiasm towards its adaption in the field of material processing. Its wide and flexibility in properties leads towards the non-conventional use of this energy where stringent dimensional tolerance and intricate shape is the main stream object. I had done some work in my master’s degree which specifically focuses on the application of solid state laser in the processing of composites. Micro-grooving of composite with desired size can be machined effectively by utilizing DPSS (diode pumped solid state) laser of specific wavelength and power. The main independent factors which influence the dimensional tolerance of micro-groove are diode current value, frequency of radiation, pulse duration or pulse width, gas as this helps at time of machining when it reacts with the material at very high temperature. This oxidation reaction is exothermic in nature which liberates heat energy which on further ads with beam energy. The output response of my experiment was the optimum deviation in upper width, lower width & depth deviation. Then by utilizing the heuristic based optimization technique MOPSO (multi objective particle swamp optimization) the suitable input parameter was found out in keeping view that minimizes output response and recast layer formation. In addition to this I also did some work at my teaching time which includes the experimental study of erosive behaviour of metal matrix composite. It the properties of composite, its manufacturing process & its dynamic response when it is subjected to erosion. The outcome of this erosion test was that how a composite surface behaves or the crack formation taking place when high velocity erodent i.e. (Aluminium oxide) with impacts on the surface through air medium. The different types of crack and its micro structural analysis was done to find out at which combination of input parameters the rate of erosion is maximum or minimum. The maximum erosion rate criteria concept can be utilized in process improvement in abrasive air jet machining process similarly the minimum erosion rate criteria is utilized in designing better surface coatings in metal matrix composite so that the degradation of composite can be minimized due to erosion process at normal atmospheric pressure and temperature condition. This is the primary aspect of entering in the field of research. To carry forward this I have a strong interest to further progress my work in the field of micro-manufacturing.
