assessment of digital breast imaging is extremely
demanding for the radiologist.

With JiveX Diagnostic Mammo and JiveX Diagnostic

Tomosynthesis Client VISUS has developed a software
which can meet these challenging demands. Both cli-
ents for mammogram assessment adapt to the workflow
processes, as well as the assessment habits and require-
ments encountered in breast centers and screening units,
resulting in precise and structured image management.
Since these two clients are based on the full-service
JiveX Diagnostic Client for radiology, this also permits
image data management beyond mammography and
breast tomosynthesis. The multi-modality capability of
the different clients is particularly helpful here because
it permits parallel visualization of different imaging mo-
dalities and various data formats.

grayscale windowing, brightness
and contrast adjustments, and inver-
sion. Integrating computer-aided de-
tection systems (CAD) can support
the workflow even further. To max-
imize the ergonomics, the JiveX
Mammo Client may be controlled via
both the keyboard and an accessory
keypad.

The shutter function optimizes breast
imaging in several ways. It detects
the breast and fully displays it on
the monitor, gates the black part ir-
relevant for assessment, and thereby
offers several benefits. On the one
hand, it permits 1:1 visualization,
i.e., displaying on the high-resolution
monitor all pixels generated by the
modality. If such a 1:1 visualization
is too large for the monitor display,
the image is automatically sectioned
into several quadrants, thus allowing
exact and safe scanning of each area.
In addition, the height of both breasts
is adjusted automatically , thus com-

Mirroring and distance
measurements
In follow-up studies the precise compa-
rison of the current images with those
of previous examinations plays an im-
portant role. In order to facilitate this
difficult task for the diagnostician, JiveX
Diagnostic Mammo Client permits
mirroring of new and previous studies.
Another helpful option in image as-
sessment is the automated distance
measurement between the lesion and
the mamilla , which is marked auto-
matically.
In order to easily and quickly view
the region of interest relevant for as-
sessment, a marker may be placed
which appears as projection line in
the other plane. This way, the lesion
marked on the first image can be
called up safely and automatically in
the second image.
The size of the window may be
adapted with the magnifying func-
tion. It allows easy windowing,
zooming, and inversion. When
working with two high-resolution
monitors, the magnifier may simply
be shifted, together with its settings,
from one monitor to the other.

Merging individual images Synthetic 2D images

(MIP display)
In order to improve the volume effect,
individual images may be merged to
an MIP visualization. The user may
effortlessly scroll through these im-
ages merged to an image stack.
The JiveX Diagnostic Tomosynthesis
Client can display tomosynthesis im-
ages, computed by the modality, as a
single two-dimensional image. Such
a display of the synthetic 2D image
of the original tomosynthesis image
may be compared directly with a
previous conventional mammogra-
phy study.
