LITERATURE REVIEW

7
ZOOMCARS was launched at first location in Malleshwaram with just seven cars. Since
thenexpanded fleet to over 50 cars across 11 locations and have no intentions of
slowing down To show appreciation for wonderful customers who choose to self-
drive with Zoom.

First started all had were Ford Figos and Mahindra Scorpio S7’s. Today, proud to say
that we have grown our fleet to include the BMW 3-Series, Volkswagen Vento, and 8-
seat Scorpio. Also became the first car rental company in India to offer a plug-in electric
vehicle, the Mahindra Reva E2O. To this day we remain the only exclusively self-drive
hire company in India.
Zoom was also very fortunate to be featured in some major publications throughout the
year. We appeared on the front page of the Times of India, and we had stories in the
Wall Street Journal, The Hindu, Gigaom, Team-BHP and Entrepreneur Magazine, and
were even on CNBC! The Economic Times also named us one of the 14 start-ups to
watch in ’14. Needless to say, it feels great to know that this many people have noticed
our success!

Not only were we featured in the news, but we also raised $1.6 million from Empire
Angels, Funders Club, Larry Summers, Lady Barbara Judge, professors at Wharton,
Harvard Law School, and the Judge School of Business at Cambridge University, as
well as other individuals. Since then we have worked hard to put that money to good
use, focusing on enhancing the user experience while growing our fleet to give our
customers more options.

Frustrated with the many transportation issues in Bangalore, we decided to do

something about it. In partnership with Uber, we started # Ride Smart BLR – a
campaign to empower Bangaloreans to take the right transportation option for each trip.
After seeing the fantastic impact we were having, we were then joined by the Ashoka
Foundation, Campus Diaries, and Grallo, as well as many of our favorite local bars and
restaurants. This campaign also got public attention from Rohan Bopanna, Prasd
Bidapa, and Rohit Barker!
Most importantly, the Freedom of Four Wheels introduced our customers to a whole new
world of self-driving options. Whether it was visiting a temple for Ganesha Chaturthi,
going on vacation in Goa or Kerala over Independence Day or Christmas, going for a
midnight snack in Bangalore itself, having an alternative to a two-wheeler in the
monsoon season, having a car for weddings and other festivals (or for an important

8
business meeting), or even driving all the way to Ladakh (!) helped people make
thousands of life-long memories.

Without all of our amazing members who choose to self-drive with Zoom. We appreciate
your continued support, feedback, and suggestions, and we encourage all of you to let
us know how we can improve the self-drive experience! We promise to accomplish even
more in the first 6 months of 2014 than we did in all of 2013. We know it will be an
exciting year for all of our members and fans, and we are enthusiastic about what lies
ahead.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

9
The sources and methods of collecting data, information, problems and analysis are discussed in
this chapter. For the purpose the previous research studies were reviewed and secondary data was
collected to enhance the understanding of the area and the development process. Actually, it was
a process to make an assessment of the issues raised in banking habits of rural people and their
status in progress of banking sector. Based on the understanding from literature review, the data
needs were established and options for data gathering techniques were considered. Questionnaire
survey was adopted to gather information regarding the problem of the study.

The present chapter is divided into two parts. In the first part, development of research model or
plan of study, which highlights that why this study is planned or what is targeted to achieve and
what need to be done. It represents the whole picture of the study. Second part is the application
of research plain in the field. This is the main part of the chapter. It also represents the tools and

nature of the study the most appropriate methods are used that can answer the questions related
to the objectives and hypotheses of the study. In this study, the research tools are a combination

11
of different techniques; primary data and secondary data have been used and analyzed using
statistical techniques.

Sample Method

The most frequently used approaches for statistical analysis of survey data and estimation of
input/output relationship using regression analysis are based on a simple random sample for data
collection.

For the purpose of survey, sample is made through a convenient sample method. In order to
