BEACH RESORT AT
MANDVI,GUJARAT
INTRODUCTION
When we talk about architecture we imagine a whole new world of varied ideas , concepts,
innovation, functions etc .Architecture for leisure is an entirely different ball game , and the mere
mention of the word resort evokes an image of architectural fantasy, romantic environments, in
nature feeling , the trees , the water bodies , those small walkways for all the lazy strolls and a sense
of luxury all around. In the minds of the perceiver expectation are bouncing – a dramatized façade,
functional aesthetics, playful spaces, viewing decks, panoramic views and the most important thing
without which entire setup has no meaning is the articulated landscaped external environment. So,
it is very true when we say that one of the most effective adaptions of the modern architecture to
the site and the region, climate and functions are to be found among the resort and its setup.
A resort is identified by the environment, specific activities which is encourages or promotes the
social groups it caters to, for example- resort town, beach resorts, golf resorts, luxury resorts,
megaresort, seaside resort, spa resort, ski resort, health resorts, desert resorts, cultural resorts.
Resorts are usually designed in such a manner as to create outdoor spaces and optimized views to
the guest rooms and public areas. It also sometimes makes use of traditional pattern of art and
architecture with an emphasis of local architecture and at the same time use of high-end technology
and infrastructure.
Great care must be taken care in developing new resorts to make sure it respects the sensitivity of
their physical site, make use of traditional cultural heritage of their region and stand sound in
fulfilling the requirements of different types of users. One thing should be taken care that it should
be designed in such way that it can deliver services that meets or exceeds the expectations of the
guest and at the same time proves economical in its running by making it energy efficient with the
use of passive ways of cooling, building orientation, and ensuring natural ventilation.

ABOUT AYURVEDA
The classical works on Ayurveda describe it as under: It is that knowledge of life, which deals
elaborately and at length with conditions beneficial or otherwise to the humanity, and, to factors
conducive to the happiness, or responsible for misery or sorrow besides indicating measures for
healthful living for full span of life. Ayurveda is also considered as 'Science of life'. This probably makes
it the earliest medical science having a positive concept of health to be achieved through a blending
of physical, mental, social moral and spiritual welfare.
According to the ancient books of knowledge, health is considered as a prerequisite for achieving the
supreme ends of life consisting of righteousness, wealth, artistic values and spiritual freedom.
Preventive and curative aspects of diseases are considered as important components of the concept
of positive health.
Ayurveda deals elaborately with measures of healthful living during the entire span of life and its
various phases. Besides dealing with principles for maintenance of health, it has also developed a wide
range of therapeutic measures to combat illness. These principles of positive health and therapeutic
measures related to physical, mental, social and spiritual welfare of human beings. Thus, Ayurveda
became one of the oldest systems of medicine dealing with both the preventive and curative aspects
of life in a most comprehensive way.
The world of today is a busy world. There is no time for physical, mental relaxation, exercise. Today
‘s life is mechanical life. The people today are drifted away from nature. The modern era of science
and technology has geared up almost all towards a fast life beset with tension and stress. To reduce
this tension and stress people find a need to calm themselves like health centres. Today, the
problems
we are facing are less physical and more psychological. Cases in medicinal world are changing very
quickly. Antibiotic drugs are no more lifesaving drugs.
Man is dying more due to heart failures, diabetes and neuropathies. We have better ways of
sanitation; we are more civilized yet we are more ill. We have found all the ways to be happy in the
name of comfort but we have lost the real zest of life in this run of time. So, it is the time to go back
to the nature and find the solution in a natural way.
Go back to the roots ‘is the today ‘s mantra.
People are fed up with the over use of chemical and drugs and on their bodies for cure. So, they are
turning towards natural therapies like Ayurveda. This has generated a need for Ayurvedic health
centres.
All the developments in scientific areas have made our lives easy and luxurious. Today we can enjoy
those conditions which were away from dreams of our ancestors. But in this race, we have left our
joy, feelings and happiness somewhere, centuries back. We are living a very painful life today. We all
need solutions for a healthy lifestyle.
This is an era of transition. Things are changing very fast. IT revolution has changed the way to think
a lot. People want to explore the newer horizons. Intellects of health industry is busy in developing
newer and newer things. Today, most ignored concept of ancient sciences, health and lifestyle are in
hot list. Modern society accepted the concept of Ayurvedic Health centres, that will help to gain a
