PERSONAL STATEMENT

An enthusiastic professional with drive, determination and over 3 years’ experience of working
in a busy finance department with International Non-Government organizations , possessing
excellent data entry skills, computer skills, accounting, taxation and finance knowledge, good
communication and interpersonal skills along with a comprehensive understanding of
commercial, administrative and accounting procedures in NGOs, having a proven ability to ensure
that day to day work is carried out in line with the agreed policies, procedures and quality
standards.

WORKING EXPERIENCE

Project Accountant-
Roles
 I oversee all financial operations of the Project and ensure timely and accurate financial
reports and practices which include cash management, payroll processing, financial
disbursements to suppliers and project staff, update inventory register, act as a bank agent,
custodian for cheque books and project cash safe.

 I enter/post financial information into the financial system, check the accounting supporting
documents to ensure quality and completeness, ensure proper budget line coding, filing and
maintaining of all financial records for the projects.

 I control project finances i.e. analyze budgets, monitor expenditure, develop financial reports,
and make recommendations to project managers on budget expenditures.

 I provide orientation and trainings to project staff on financial procedures and guidelines

 I provide financial inputs for proposal development, project management, Human Resource
management through engaging in monthly budget reviews

 I re-view partner financial reports, supporting documentation for completeness and


accuracy, monitor their budgets, process partner organization’s funds requests, provide
financial advice and support and give feedback to partners regarding their reports and donor
requirements
FINANCE ASSISTANT
Roles
 Managed petty cash by ensuring that proper cash disbursement processes and all
authorizations are completed and posted in the system
 Reviewed all payment requests from other departments for completeness before payment is
done and ensure timely journals are prepared
 Monitored and followed up on advance payments at all levels and ensured that project staff
clear their advances on time
 Prepared cash forecast for project activities, photocopied and scanned of all documents
before being sent to country office

Roles
 Ensured safe custody of organization’s finances and keeping the petty cash float, to be issued
in accordance with the organizations policies and procedures.
 Reviewed payment requests for accuracy, completeness, compliance and level of
authorization, made all payments including field payments to Village Health Teams (VHTs),
Program staff and Health workers after approval by the line manager and entered vouchers
in the accounting system
 Ensured accurate maintenance of all the organization’s financial and accounting files and
transactions and ensured timely photocopy of all vouchers before they were sent to country
office
 Prepared monthly cash and cost forecasts for the project, monitored and recorded cash
balances in the safe and cash box, liaised with finance team in Kampala office and advised
accordingly on cash transfers and replenishments.
 In the administrative role; I ensured proper documentation of all assets and stock received
for field activities that included their distributions and the associated accountabilities
 Fleet management including scheduling of movement plans, servicing of cars and motorbikes
and fuel management
 Management of staff leaves and updating of the monthly leave tracker

Finance Intern
Roles
 Updated the cash and bank books and reconciling them at the end of the day and month
respectively
 Handled Petty Cash (Cashier) i.e., making cash payments and preparation of different
vouchers journals like fuel journals, rent journals, reclaim journals for management accounts.
 Filed, archived, photocopied of all the finance documents and ensuring that all the necessary
supporting documents and accountabilities are attached
 Supported management accountant and Finance Assistant in the filling of tax returns and VAT
returns and other duties
