I used 4mm hook and 8 ply wool for this, you will need to adjust your wool and hook for your project. Pattern is for eyes 2.5cm diameter, or 4cm diameter.
Large and Small Item with small Item with large
Chain 2
Round 1: single crochet 6 times into second
chain from the hook (6) join with slip stitch into first single crochet
Round 2: chain 1, single crochet into same
stitch. 2 single crochet into each single crochet around (12) join with slip stitch into first stitch (end here for 2.5cm eyes) Round 3: chain 2, half double crochet in same stitch. *Half double crochet into next stitch. 2 half double crochet into next stitch. ** Repeat from * to ** until end. Join with slip stitch, tie off. (end here for 4cm eyes)
Round 4: Pupils – between the first and
second rows are 6 “points”. Using a yarn needle, sew an asterisk from the three pairs of points. (This also applies to the smaller eyes).
Then run the yarn in running stitch around the
asterisk using the same entry points (you will get three lines, so turn around and go back to form a full circle). Now, when you were making the asterisk, you had lines running between 1 and 4, 2 and 5 and 3 and 6. Now run a line between 1 and 3, and 2 and 4. This fills in most of the remaining pupil. Leave the third one as a glint, or fill it in.
