1. Overview
1.1 The On Call policy is designed to monetarily compensate the associates who are required to support
our customers over and above the scheduled working hours or days.
1.3 Benefits and allowances from this policy cannot be used in conjunction with other Cognizant policies
unless specifically mentioned, such as the 6th Day policy.
2. Scope
2.1 This policy applies to all IT and CIS associates up to the level of Senior Manager including trainees on
the payrolls of Cognizant Technology Solutions India Private Limited and its Indian affiliates.
2.2 Associates working in Corporate Functions are not covered under the policy.
3. Definitions
3.1 On Call: The associate is scheduled to provide support to the customer on-demand, outside the regular
working hours, scheduled shift including weekly-offs, and holidays.
Note: This will be over and above the Cognizant accumulated 40 hours of work in a week. The
associate has to attend the client via phone, email or any other modern telecommunication technology.
3.2 Shift: Working hours that fall outside the standard work hours of Cognizant.
3.4 Weekly Off: Any two calendar days in a 7-days work week, where the associate is not expected to be
at work.
3.5 Leave: Any day where the associate has decided to take a day off from work as per the leave policy.
4.2 The policy is not applicable for ad-hoc or one off instances. The associate will have to be scheduled
as On Call to be eligible for allowance.
Note
The associate can support the client either from a Cognizant office or remotely, from home or
from the customer’s office.
The associate can avail the cab service through Admin, if required, to be available physically
in the office premises to attend to the customer requirements. The current transport policy will
be applicable.
Criteria Allowance
The associate will not be eligible for the allowance while on leave (as governed by the leave
policy).
5. Approvals
5.1 Delivery Director: The advice made by the Reporting Manager should be approved by the Delivery
Director, who is responsible for the project to which this cost is charged.
6.2 The Reporting Manager submits the payroll advice within the stipulated date for processing.
6.3 The HRSS India Payroll team processes the input and further advice for payment to the Finance Team.
7. Responsibility Matrix
7.1 Reporting Managers
7.1.2 Schedule and inform the associate at least 72 hours in advance to allow individuals to plan
their personal time.
7.1.3 Send a payroll advice to HRSS India payroll Team within prescribed timelines.
7.2 Associates
7.2.1 Update contact information in the respective Cognizant systems to enable faster
communication.
7.3.1 Review and approve the advice submitted by the Reporting Manager for payroll
processing.
8. Exceptions Handling
8.1 The benefits of this policy are governed by the terms and conditions of employment in practice at
Cognizant. This is subject to change from time to time. Cognizant reserves the right to amend its
policies as necessitated. All statutory requirements are applicable as mandated by law.
