Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Script: Application - Grade 12 - STEM
CARMEL SCRIPT
Application | Grade 12 – STEM
(Two students are seen checking into the Library, and is looking for a place to sit. Chill
BG MUSIC is playing, CURTAINS are in a half part position)
(MAIN STUDENTS find a seat, sitting down and opening their laptops.)
Student 1: Hey, have you ever wondered why we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of
Mt. Carmel?
Student 1: I don’t know, it just doesn’t seem…linked to us Roseñas you know. I mean
celebrating the Feast of St. Rose, I understand because she is our patron saint, but
Mt. Carmel? Ehhhhh, I don’t know. I’m just wondering how being a Carmelite is
related to us.
Student 2: Well, this is why we have the power of the Internet. Let’s look for it.
(They both start browsing the Internet. VIDEO flashes their internet browser, where
they find an article about 400 Years of Devotion to Mt. Carmel, and a PICTURE/STILL
FROM THE HAIRA + ASIA VIDEO of the Talangpaz Sisters are present.)
Student 2: Hey, I found an article! It says here that the Congregation of the
Augustinian Recollect is commemorating 401 years of devotion to our dear Lady.
Isn’t the school being run by the Congregation of the Augustinian Recollect Sisters?
Student 1: (Looks at their screen) Oh yeah! And take a look at this, (the VIDEO will
show these words being highlighted on screen) “Mother Dionisia and Mother Cecilia
Rosa Talangpaz, two blood sisters from Calumpit, Bulacan the Foundresses of the
Congregation of the Augustinian Recollect Sisters were devotees of Our Lady of
Mount Carmel whose miraculous image at San Sebastian Church Manila was
venerated. Through then in 1719, was formed the nucleus of what alter evolved as
the Congregation of the Augustinian Recollect Sisters. Mother Dionisia and Mother
Cecilia left us the legacy of love, humility, courage and endurance amidst
tribulations in life.”
Student 2: So it’s because of Mother Cecilia and Mother Dionisia, that we celebrate
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel’s feast today, because they were devotees.
Student 1: And that was passed on by the Augustinian Recollect Sisters to different
generations.
(Student 1 and 2 frantically look at each other because they think they are hearing
voices and are going crazy.)
Student 2: But how is this possible? Aren’t you both, well, I’m sorry for the term,
dead? Are you contacting us from the afterlife?
Mother Dionisia: You both just make me laugh. Yes, we are dead, but the memory of
both of us haven’t, because of students like you.
Mother Cecilia: Because of you, our stories are remembered my many, and we are
recognized to be a vital part in the founding of the Augustinian Recollect Sisters.
Student 2: Yes.
Mother Cecilia: Because we know that you will be able to help us spread the Word
about Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.
Student 1: …How?
Mother Cecilia: Oh, well then come, my sister and I will show you something.
Student 2: Okay.
(Sisters exit the browser so the photo just has a white background, magical dust
sounds will play as they exit the video and enter the stage. The BROWSER PHOTO in
the video will fade into the LIBRARY PHOTO. They are both carrying an enormous
book with the title, “The Story of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel,” as they approach the two
students from behind.)
Student 1: Hey, where did they go? They’re gone from the screen!
Mother Cecilia: There is no Harry Potter stuff involved. (ANGEL HOLY MUSIC PLAYS,
STUDENT 1 AND 2 LOOK BEHIND THEM AND SLOWLY APPROACH THEM AT THE
CENTER OF THE STAGE) It is just us, and the miracle and grace of God.
Student 2: This, is where we learn about your message about Mt. Carmel?
(Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and St. Simon Stock comes out from behind the book, Video
shows the photo of the mountain of Mt. Carmel, bird sounds and serene music plays)
Mother Dionisia: You both are already familiar with the story of Our Lady and St.
Simon Stock?
Mother Cecilia: You remember what she said to St. Simon Stock when she gave him
the scapular?
Student 1 & 2: (The words they say will be simultaneous with the actions of Our Lady
and Simon Stock) “Whoever dies wearing this scapular, will not suffer eternal fire.”
Mother Dionisia: (SIMON STOCK changes costume behind the book, and gives the
brown scapulars to some students, CHURCH PHOTO WILL BE FLASHED ON THE
VIDEO) Yes, and until now, people who are devoted to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel are
receiving this scapular, and are inspired by the values and the maternal love Our
Lady has brought us. You see, our Mother Mary has given us protection and unites
us with her spiritual family by giving us the scapular.
Mother Cecilia: However, here is just one reminder: one cannot just accept the
scapular and not truly follow the good example of our Lady. (BAD AND GOOD
STUDENTS ENTER) This scapular will not make you immune to the fires of hell.
Mother Dionisia: See these students- all of them are blessed to be wearing the
scapular. However, not all of them are worthy, for their actions do not give honor to
the scapular given to them.
Mother Cecilia: (Some bad students approach one good student and start bullying
them) Some of them bully others, hurt others, swear, and sin-
Mother Dionisia: (Bullying ends, and the remaining good students rush to help their
friend and one talks to the bullies telling them that they are wrong) While some
remain kind, understanding, and compassionate towards others.
(EXIT students)
Student 2: So, our actions should always reflect the values Our Lady taught to us?
Mother Cecilia: Yes, God may guide us and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel can guide us, but
it is within your choice to make your actions follow the good example of Our Lady of
Mt. Carmel.
Mother Dionisia: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel promotes love, mercy, kindness, and
compassion towards others, and above all, prayer to Him. From these values, I ask
you, how can you as a young Carmelite be good follower of Our Lady?
(CURTAINS close, PSYCHEDELIC LIGHTS TURN ON, VIDEO WILL HAVE A DREAMY
EFFECT AS IT FADES BACK TO THE LIBRARY PHOTO, and dream sequence music
plays, the two students move to the table in a rewind-like fashion, and sit down like
their position before. However, now, they are asleep, and woke up from their dream.)
Student 2: I didn’t even realize we fell asleep. How was your dream?
Student 1: It was enlightening, especially since Mother Cecilia and Mother Dionisia
helped me realize how I could be a better Carmelite and why we ARSCians are
devoted to The Lady-
Student 1: Cool!
Student 2: (returns to look at their laptop, but sees a book similar to the one in their
dream on the table.) Hey look, was this book here a while ago?
(Projector screen shows a book that looks similar to the large book in their dream
[UNG RED BOOK NI HAIRA] + Realization chimes play)
Mother Cecilia & Mother Dionisia as Librarians: (looks at each other knowingly)
Interesting thought. Well, here’s the book, kindly return it after a week.
Voice-over: So the two students went on to share the lessons they’ve learned from
Mother Cecilia and Mother Talangpaz’s appearance to them in their dream. Here are
some of these lessons:
(ENTER YUNG MGA TABLEAU PEOPLE) As members of the youth, they displayed
their devotion to Our Lady not only through prayer, but by taking time to devote
themselves into different areas of their lives. (KAILANGAN NAKAFREEZE NA KAYO
SA PWESTO AT THIS POINT!!) Such ways include being good students (MOVE),
helping out their family (MOVE) through doing chores at home and showing
appreciation to the hardwork their parents, being good influences (MOVE) to their
friends, or even striving (MOVE) to improve some of their negative attributes so that
they can be a better version of themselves. (EXIT!!!)
(ENTER GROUP 1) But most of all, despite their busy schedules, they still found time
to pray. To Jesus, Through Mary- along with their devotion to Our Lady of Mt.
Carmel, Mother Mary helped intercede for them whenever they would pray.
(ENTER GROUP 2) These are some of the things they did, for these are what they
learned from the story of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, and their actions are the result of
being inspired by the motherly love of the Virgin Mary.
(Class dances “You Lead, I’ll Follow.” VIDEO WILL SHOW THE DANCE VIDEO OF
MOVEMENT IN CHRIST, fun lights while we dance HEHE)
