ACTIVE AND PASSIVE VOICE Worksheet Exercise 2.

Exercise 2. Directions: Encircle the direct object in each of the following sentences in active voice
constructions. Then on the blank BEFORE the number, write whether the direct object is plural or singular.

Exercise 1. Directions: Decide whether the following sentences are written in the active or passive voice.
Then write the doer of the action on the line to the right. If the doer is unknown, write a question mark (?).
--Changing active voice sentences to passive constructions requires attention in the tenses of the verbs.

--In changing sentences from ACTIVE to PASSIVE Voice, the Direct Object in active voice will become the ex. will pay, shall love Ex. will be paid, shall be loved
Subject in passive voice construction. While in rewriting Passive to Active Voice, the ‘by phrase’ in passive Future Perfect Tense Will/shall have + past participle will/shall have been + past participle

voice will become the subject in active voice. Ex. will have paid, shall have ex. will have been paid, shall have
been loved.
Example: Active: Jesus Christ had paid all our sins. loved
Passive: All our sins had been paid by Jesus Christ. Exercise 3. Underline the verbs used in Exercise 2, then write the tense on the opposite space.
--If there is no “by phrase” or doer of the action in passive voice sentence, just add any ‘subject’ Exercise 4. Rewrite the sentences in Exercise 2 using Passive Voice Construction. Use the backpage.
