Curriculum Content Name: Examine Spreadsheet Components

Curriculum Content Number: 4.1.2

Curriculum Content Description: Identify the parts of a spreadsheet: active cell, cell, cell reference,
column, label, range, row, value, workbook, worksheet.

Learning Objective: The student will be able to properly use Excel. Students will know the basics of Excel
and learn how to put what they learn to use. The students will have multiple activities to help them
retain the information in multiple different ways.

Learning Activities: The students will be watching a video from Teacher Tube that shows them different
aspects of Excel. While the students watch the video, they will fill out their graphic organizer. Class will
end with the students working on their Excel Simulation.

Activity 1: Video

The students will watch a video about Excel. The video will help the students know how to properly
work Excel.

Activity 2: Graphic Organizer

The students will fill out a graphic organizer which entails questions regarding the Teacher Tube video.
The sections allow for the students to write down notes regarding what was taught in the video, it
allows for them to draw diagrams, and it allows for the students to have something to refer back to after
having watched the video.

Activity 3: Excel Simulation

Upon watching the video and doing the graphic organizer, the students will do a simulation with
questions containing contents from the video. They were able to visually watch the problems with the
video and write them down with the graphic organizer. The simulation will help them but the two
together at work. It will show them how much of the information that they were able to retain.

Evaluation:

The students will be evaluated on whether or not they finish the graphic organizer and how well they do
on the simulation. The graphic organizer is used to help them retain the information needed for the
simulation. The video will give them the information that they will be needing for the graphic organizer.
