BALL MILL

STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE:-

1. Ensure that all the items mentioned in the
prerequisites are available -
2. Connect the power supply (3 Phase) [415 V, 50/
60 HZ] A.C with Earthing. (use 5 core cable to
draw earthing from the input supply).
3. Coupling alignment with respect to gear box and
rubber bush has been done.
4. Confirm ‘V’ belt tension and alignment of the
pulley.
5. Ensure that the Plummer blocks on both sides are
lubricated.
6. Open the safety guard and place hopper on the
Clamping unit of mill using Insmart Spanner.
7. Feed the grinding media according to the
specifications of the machine Ref Prerequisite.
8. Feed the Raw material thru the hopper with
respect to Ball to Charge Ratio ( normally it is 8:1)
9. Hopper is to be removed and close gate placed by
using clamping units on either side using Insmart
spanner. The clamping system is tightened to
prevent leakage.
10.. Set the grinding time as desired, which depends
upon desired mesh of grind.
11. Close the safety guard and start the operation by
pressing start button to run the mill.
12. After the process is over, press stop button & open
safety guard of mill.
13. Then remove the closed gate and place the screen
gates and clamp.
14. Close the safety guard

Now rotate the mill by switching the inching
button on.
16. In order to completely evacuate, the processed
material run the mill back and forth (oscillatory
movement) for which sensor are provided to
control the swing in both direction at the fag end
of the shaft.

17. Once the material is completely collected, the


trolly is pulled forward. Then with the help of
brush the material is wiped to the outlet side,
where the material is then discharged in a
collection tray.
18. Material is then taken for further processing.

IMPORTANT NOTE:-

a. The mill can be used for both dry and wet grinding operations.
b. For dry grinding, volume of the test sample is taken in such a way that the
sample and the grinding media volume should always be less than 40% of
total mill volume
c. In case of wet grinding prepare of sample of 2 kg (approx.) add water to
make consistency to 55-60% solid by weight. Here the slurry and ball will
separated.
