Competitors:

Amul is famous for its dairy products. Most of the competition amul faces for the dairy sector
is from Mother Dairy, Gowardhan and many local dairies. In ice-cream sector major
competitors of amul are ‘Kwality Walls’ which is a frozen dessert by Hindustan Unilever,
Havmor, Vadilal, Dinshaws and Mother Dairy. For the beverage range major competitors of
amul are Nestle, Hershey, Frooti, Maaza and Minute Maid besides many other regional
brands. For the cooking range amul faces most of the competition from McCain.

Be it ghee, cheese, butter, yogurt or fresh milk, Amul is clearly the market leader in most
value-added dairy categories.

At 10,000 crore, the ice cream (including frozen desserts) market has been growing at 15-
20% every year over the past five years. While Amul by far remains the market leader with
16% share, regional brands, too, have managed to come into their own.
