PRACTICUM JOURNAL WEEK 1

SCHOOL: SK KELANA JAYA 1

DATE: 14TH JUNE 2019

TOPIC: ICE BREAKING WEEK

For the first week, we had issue regarding interaction with the teachers. We were shy
and awkward to interact with the teachers here. Basically, we seldom talk to other teachers and
keep mingling within our own circle.

For the first week, we were given the opportunity to get to know the teachers and staffs
of the school. We were also given the timetable for our teaching training which will start at the
second week. At the same time, we were also given opportunity to enter the class that we are
going to teach and make preparations before starting to teach them next week. Interactions with
the teachers were quite bearable but still awkward. I think it is hard for us to adapt to the school
environment. We need some time to comfortably interact with all the teachers and get used to
adapting to the school's environment. We were actually worried that we might give negative first
impression of being arrogant. Actually, we were just shy and awkward to talk to them and need
some time to adjust.
According to “The glossary of education reform”, it’s always best to use language that is
precise and yet universally accessible. When both educators and non-educators alike can
understand your descriptions, you have created communications assets that you can be used
with multiple audiences. In addition, developing definitions in collaboration with a variety of
stakeholders is a great way to promote greater voice and shared leadership in your school
community. Hence, basically the language for communication is crucial to ensure healthy
interaction with the school community.
Few suggestions to solve this issue includes ask more questions to the teachers,
committed to the task given as well as greet and smile to the teachers when you see them.
Effectiveness of the suggestion include our relationship has gotten better. The teachers start
talking to us and there is more interaction than before. We also started learning to talk
comfortably with them. In conclusion, building a good rapports among teachers require efforts
and time. Learning to socialize is part of the compulsory life living skills that everyone should
acquire.
