 FRP composite offers better mechanical properties at lesser weight in comparison to metals.
• GFRP are the preferred materials nowadays for manufacturing automobile and aircraft components (Xin wang 2004).
 Drilling is an essential machining operation on any mechanical component that has to undergo assembly operation.
• Drilling of GFRP composites is a complex process since it causes severe tool wear and damage (Thakur 2014).  More than 60% of mechanical components are rejected due to bad quality drilled hole (Hocheng 2006).

Some applications: • Also known as - wear rate maps / wear transition maps / wear mechanism maps.

• These maps provide a global picture of how materials in relative motion behave under different operating

conditions.

• They also relate the dominant wear mechanisms under different conditions.

• With the ability to provide information on the conditions under which a transition from mild wear to severe

wear takes, wear maps are useful to designers in order to find optimum process parameters.

• The maps are also useful to make optimal decisions in the design and material selection of tribological
