Today Vision

We must learn how to see!

When we speak of vision we immediately think tomorrow, we think of bigger and better things, we
live in a hope of some how, some way this will automatically happening for us that one day we will
wake up and we will be there, sadly that’s not how vision works.

In bursting bubbles today I want to give you an understanding of the basics of vision if you like, the
fundamentals.

Pro 29:18
Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the
law.

Even though we have heard this verse preached it seems that it’s always seen as futuristic, (5 year
plan) it’s really more about bringing a consistent and constant application of the word and action,
that which already is revelation or revealed, because without it the people have no example to
follow.
So Solomon isn’t talking so much about foresight. Solomon is talking about leaders, elders, kings
and priests, you and I in holding to what we know and understand to be right behavior.
He tells us that unless we have people like this around us and without there example we will cast off
restraint.
We must have God’s words, given faithfully to us, established in our behavior, if we are to survive.
That is the true fundamentals of true vision and this verse.

The rest of the verse undergirds this thinking by saying in the message translation.

But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed.

Its hearing and doing its seeing and living

Prov 29:12-18

Correct your son, with what? With established patterns of behavior, you correct by bringing
someone back in the parameters of established boundaries for today then in their tomorrows there
will be success.

Sadly there are many who long to be released into the next level, if that’s the right word to grow in
the spirit but they find in all honesty a reluctance to be consistent, because something else is in
their vision, they see another, look to another priority, not understanding that they aren’t
establishing vision for their family, natural and spiritual.

Mat 8:21-23
Then another of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father."
But Jesus said to him, "Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead."
Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him.

Now we think that is hard because we automatically think that he’s talking about the man’s
deceased father, but Jesus declares “Let the dead, bury the dead” so this mans priority was to the
things of the kingdom of this world first rather than the things of the kingdom of heaven.
So it seems to me that as they pushed that boat out there were others invited standing on the shore
looking at the boat as it drifted further away yet they themselves found themselves thinking have I
made the right choice, should I be in that boat?
They desired to follow yet their “firsts” didn’t include Jesus, so there was something that distracted
them, something to them more important.

Act 2:1-2
When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the
whole house where they were sitting.

Chapter one tells us that there were about 120 in the upper room; I wonder how many weren’t there
because they had something else on?

Vision is the ability to see, but really vision must be more than just ability to see but within it there
must be a power not only to see but to live in it.

Jer 31:33
But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the
LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God,
and they shall be My people.

You see the word resides in your heart and it must undergird vision by setting clear guidelines and
parameters for today.

You may have a plan for your tomorrows but you will never see it or it will be very short lived if you
don’t understand the stepping stones to vision are the truths that are already revealed as the second
part of Proverbs 29:18 reads, but happy are those who what? Keep what already is revealed!

Most of the people in the bible who grasped hold of the need to purse the call of God understood
that, they must…

They:
1. Walk away from security
2. Be led into uncertainty
3. Live by faith

Joh 1:47
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in
whom is no deceit!"

His words were words that declared that not only was he born a Jew but he lived as a Jew
He’s declaring that Nathanael is a man living in today vision with integrity and righteousness, not
only natural but spiritual He then says in verse 51

Joh 1:51
And He said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open and
the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man."

You will not only see the continuation of who you are in you today vision but you will see heavenly
vision, He is directing him to what he knew of Jacob in Gen 28

Gen 28:12-15
Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to
heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
And behold, the LORD stood above it and said: "I am the LORD God of Abraham your
father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your
descendants.
Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west
and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the
earth shall be blessed.
Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this
land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you."

Christ came to earth to show us how to live and upon that we can reach heaven that upon that we
see our gate way to heaven that is our Bethel this is the house of God, our living out our lives based
here on earth established on the rock reaching for you dreams and experiencing your futures while
grounded in the truth of the revealed revelation of His word.

In other words they lived out their convictions of revealed truth (Now vision) while holding onto as
hope as prisoners of what was promised (Future vision).

So no matter what happens to you today ask this question:

“Does this fit into my today vision for my life?”
