A critique on the study, “Color Psychology Paper"

This study "Color Psychology Paper" by Read Write Think (2009), aimed to determine the
effects of colors on one's mood. This study was quite interesting however, the author did not
establish the relevance of the study, the methodology used was not convincing and the result
was not elaborately explained.
This study aimed to determine how color affects one's mood. Thus, the researcher
conducted a survey to sixty middle school (30girls and 30 boys). It was found out that the greatest
number of male middle school student thought that black made them feel sad, cold and depressed
and green made most of them feel secure, safe, and so on. But, color affects to boys and girls
differently.
Although the study was amazing and interesting, there are some limitations observed.
First, the author did not establish the relevance of the study. The author did not provide an
introduction, instead he/she presented different perceptions of different authors. And the benefits
of the readers gather from this study was not stated.
Secondly, the methodology used was not convincing. The researcher did not explain the
sampling technique, he/she did not provide an information on how he/she picked with those sixty
students. Also, the research instrument in gathering data was not described.
Third, the result of the study was not elaborately explained. The author presented only a
percentage of students who have been influenced by certain color. Also, this findings, lead the
readers to a confusions for, he/she did not provide a detail on how he/she come up with that
result.
Generally, the research paper was quite interesting because the author logically picked
this unique kind of topic. But, some parts of the paper are not clearly detailed and incomplete.
For the author failed to provide an introduction, he/she did not explain how he/she come up with
that result, also the author did not state how and why he/she conducted the research. It is
suggested that future researchers need to provide a clearly detailed information, so that the
readers will easily understand the research paper.
