REACTION PAPER

I. SUMMARY
The short film entitled “MINSAN”, a film by 1st LT. CHERRYL TINDOG PN (M),
participated by Philippine Marine Personnel and which was shot at the Headquarters of
Philippine Marine Corps, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

The film tells a story about a certain soldier’s life who is happily married but was
not able to resist a temptation that resulted to a series of unfortunate events in his life. It
shows that every soldier in everthing that he is do he should always keep in mind the the
moral aspects of what he is doing. The soldier, in the film, who was married, was sent to the
Headquarters where he meant an OJT Nurse and had a relationship with her.
Then he was reassigned to where his wife is located and left his girlfriend without a word.
A year later, he was back at the headquarters where he got the information that the nurse
was not able to achieve her dream of working abroad and she also got a child. It turn out
that it was his child, and because of such circumstances in the nurse’s life it led the nurse to
file a complaint against the soldier. Acting on the complaint and the Officials saw that he is
indeed guilty was penalized and was discharge from his duties as a soldier.

II. EVALUATION

The film showed that military life can be hard sometimes and for reasons we never
expect to happen. What matters most is that we are always positive in life because it is your
life. Spending it always sad, upset and miserable is not the best and healthy way to live a
life. As a soldier you must have your determination in life, dignity, loyalty, courage and
kindness that leads to a better career and in life.

III. REACTION

The reality of life is there is always temptation surrounding us, just like in the film,
and we must be aware of it. The consequences of entertaining and sinking into the
temptation is that it can cause damage to our lives, as a soldier, to our families and to the
other person’s life. We must bear in mind that our career, our relationship with our family
and of other people will be compromised should we dive into the sinking circumstances of
immorality. As in the eyes of God and of men, immorality is a sin. The film showed the
consequences of the soldier’s actions because of his unfaithfulness to his wife and children.
Also, it destroyed the future plans of the nurse(girlfriend) of going abroad after her OJT at
the military hospital. Cheating will cause the break of trust, peace, love and care of the wife
towards the husband which may lead to a broken family. As a soldier, commitment to your
family and to your work is very much important to being true to your relationship with
your spouse, commitment in kepping your family going especially during through tough
times, commitment to your dreams when obstacles present their way and commitment to
your duty and responsibilities toward your country.
