At the end of the given time the students should be able to:

1.Identify the different layers of the Earth.


2. Describe each of the layers of the Earth.
3. Explain the importance of studying the layers of the Earth.
4. Create a brochure that shows the different layers of the Earth and its
characteristics.

1. Divide the class into six group.
2. Provide each group with a crossword puzzle.
3. Within 1 minute let the group locate the following word:
a. CRUST d. CONTINENTAL CRUST
b. MANTLE e. OCEANIC CRUST
c. INNER CORE f. OUTER CORE
4. The first group who will be able to locate all the words will be the
winner

The teacher will present and discuss the lesson objectives


Broadly speaking, the Earth has four layers: the solid crust on
the outside, the mantle and the core — split between the outer core
and the inner core.
The crust is also divided into two the continental crust and the
oceanic crust.

Buzz Group Discussion


1. Divide the class into six group.
2. In the group assign buzz secretary, buzz reporter and buzz
leader.
3. The group will brainstorm on what are the characteristics of the
layers of the Earth the saw in the crossword puzzle.
4. Each group will be given 5 minutes to complete the task.
5. Group presentation will follow
