SINGLE LIFE
Last February 15, 2019, we the College of Education students conducted a seminar entitled “OUR
CHRISTIAN VOCATION: LIVING THE PASSION WITHIN.” The seminar was held in Miraculous
Building room 201 and it started at exactly 4:30 pm in the afternoon. For this seminar we invited a three respectful
guest speaker to share the story of their life as being Single, Married and Religious. So, for the first part of our
program we tackled the Single Life by our beautiful speaker Ms. Rhodora B. Balunsat. But before that she shared
with us why she is single for 49 years and because of that some people questioning her. Why? And they say being
single is a decease? But once in her life she tried to be in love and that is when she is a high school student but
apparently it is not like a fairytale story that have a happy ending. She also say that “It’s better to love and died
rather than never love at all. It’s not her choice to be a single forever. She always say that she didn’t regret to be
single because she committed her life of being educating and it is God’s call... We are indeed lucky to have her
as a speaker because we’ve learned a lot of things with her. She also shared to us that being single has an advantage
and disadvantage. The main advantage of being single is, if you are single you have the freedom what you want
to do because no one will questioning on what is your decisions in life. You are free to choose in anything you
want. You can buy all the stuffs that you want. You could travel in anyplace because you have your own income.
In short, you are truly independent. But she accept the fact that being single is hard. You don’t have the partner
in life that accompany you wherever you want to go. No one will ask you how’s your day. No one will comfort
you. No one will listen to your dramas. No one will wipe your tears when you are crying. But on the other hand
she is so lucky to have her family that will makes her happy all the time, including her cute nieces that she kept
her as her own child. And she is very proud to share with us that while studying she pursue her career. Because
of that she is the one who sent her siblings at school. She is the one who provide the needs of her siblings and she
is so very proud with that. Although sometimes she felt that she is alone because of being single, but all of her
success filled the blanks of her life.
