CHAPTER 5

SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter presents the summary of the research work

undertaken, the conclusion drawn and the recommendations made as

an outgrowth of this study. This study is on the teaching

techniques and SHS students’ in-depth course comprehension.

On the respondents’ profile were age, sex, strand and

subject preferred by the students.

Summary of the Findings

This study was conducted for the purposed of determining

the teaching techniques and the SHS students’ in-depth course

comprehension. The descriptive method of research was utilized

and the survey technique was used for gathering data. The

questionnaire served as the instrument for collecting data. All

the SHS students, Grade 11 and Grade 12 in Ballesteros National

High School were the respondents. The inquiry was conducted

during the School Year 2017-2018 who was enrolled in the second

semester.

Based on the gathered, analyzed and interpreted data, the

researcher came up with the following findings in accordance

with the research questions formulated in the statement of the

problem.
Majority of the respondents were 17 years old; consisting

of 50 percent, female; consisting of 68 percent, those who were

in STEM strand; consisting of 36 percent and those who preferred

Science, consisting of 44 percent.

Under the Usage of Visual Aid, many responded they strongly

agree that they are more attentive if the teacher uses visual

aid and gathered 3.98 as their weighted mean.

Under the Forms of Visual Aid, many responded they strongly

agree that they listen well if the teacher uses PowerPoint

Presentation as a medium of illustration and gathered as 4.22 as

their weighted mean.

Under Scheduling and Itemizing of Examinations, many

responded that they agree on preferring short quiz rather than

long quiz and pop quiz and gathered as 3.61 as their weighted

mean.

Conclusions

The following were the conclusions drawn based on the

findings on the study.

There were many teaching techniques that affect the

students’ in-depth comprehension. However, the researchers

focused upon the; a. usage of visual aid, b. forms of visual aid

and c. scheduling and itemizing of examinations.

After the tests have been analyzed, it was interpreted that

many responded they strongly agree that they are more attentive

if the teacher uses visual aid.

It was also interpreted that majority of the SHS students

responded they strongly agree that they listen well if the

teacher uses PowerPoint Presentation as a medium of

illustration.

At the very least, it was interpreted that many responded

that they agree on preferring short quiz as part of scheduling

and itemizing of examination.

Recommendation

Based on the conclusions cited in here, the following are

hereby recommended:

1. The usage of visual aid must be implemented to other rooms

for deeper comprehension of SHS students.

2. The PowerPoint presentation is more effective for the

learning of the SHS students among the variables presented

in this study.

3. The short quiz type of examination was proved to be the

most agreeable for the SHS students.
