Operational Test of the Emergency Generation System

1. Reason for the Job


Refer to the MPD TASK: 242400-01
OPERATIONAL CHECK OF EMERGENCY GENERATING SYSTEM
Make sure that the essential busbars are supplied through the CSM/G.

NOTE: You can do this test with the Blue electric pump or with a ground hydraulic cart.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES
ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS
AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits


(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002) .
(2) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001) .
(3) Pressurize the Blue hydraulic system with the Blue electric pump (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-
003) or with a ground power supply (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-003) .
(4) On the FLAPS control panel 114VU:
· Make sure that the slat/flap control lever is on the 0 position.
· Make sure that the LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS (98D27803500001) is in position on the flap/slat
control lever.
· Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat control lever.
(5) On the HYD section of the panel 50VU, release the LEAK MEASUREMENT VALVES/B pushbutton
switch (the OFF legend comes on).

B. Get access to the avionics compartment.
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE at the access doors 812 and 822 of the
avionics compartment.
(2) Open the access doors 812 and 822.

A. Operational Test of the Emergency Generation System

ACTION RESULT
1.On the EMER ELEC PWR section of panel 21VU: On the lower ECAM DU:
· Lift the safety guard. · The ELEC page comes into view automatically.
· Push and hold the EMER GEN TEST pushbutton · The green lines between the AC1 and AC ESS
switch. busbars and the DC1 and DC ESS busbars go out
of view.

ACTION RESULT
· The EMER GEN and ESS TR indications are
shown in white. The related parameters are shown
in green.
· The green lines between the EMER GEN indica-
tion and the AC ESS busbar, the EMER GEN and
the ESS TR, and the ESS TR indications and the
DC ESS busbar comes into view.
· The SHED indication comes into view below the
AC ESS and DC ESS busbars.
2.On panel 21VU: On panel 21VU:
· Release the EMER GEN TEST pushbutton · Check that the safety guard is back in its position.
switch.
NOTE: If you do the test with the Blue electric pump:
(1) The Blue electric pump stops automatic-
ally.
(2) If it does not stop, on the HYD section
of panel 50VU, push and release the BLUE
PUMP/OVRD pushbutton switch.
Make sure that the ON legend goes off and
the Blue electric pump stops.
If the Blue electric pump does not stop, do
the troubleshooting procedure of continu-
ous operation of the Blue electric pump Ref.
TSM 29-12-00-810-810 .

3.On the ECAM control panel: On the lower ECAM DU:


· Push the ELEC key to get the ELEC page. · The normal configuration comes into view: the
emergency AC generator stops and the AC1 bus-
bar supplies the AC ESS busbars.

NOTE: It is possible that the essential TR continues


to supply the DC ESS busbar. If this occurs,
on AC power center 123VU, open and close
circuit breaker 1XC and make sure that the
essential TR no longer supplies the DC ESS
busbar.

4.On the ECAM control panel: On the STATUS page of the lower ECAM DU:
· Push the STS key to get the STATUS page. · If the AIR BLEED maintenance status comes in-
to view below the MAINTENANCE item, it is ne-
cessary to reset the two Flight Warning Computers
(FWCs). Thus the FWCs will not record the indic-
ation in the Post Flight Report (PFR) at the next
flight.
Do the step that follows.
· If the AIR BLEED status maintenance does not
come into view below the MAINTENANCE item, go
to Para. 5.
5.On panel 49VU: On the STATUS page:
· Open circuit breaker 3WW. · The AIR BLEED indication goes out of view.
· Close circuit breaker 3WW.
On panel 121VU:
· Open circuit breaker 2WW.

ACTION RESULT
· Close circuit breaker 2WW.
6.If the AIR BLEED indication continues: On the STATUS page:
On panel 49VU: · The AIR BLEED indication goes out of view.
· Open circuit breaker 2HA1 between 5 and 10
seconds.
· Close circuit breaker 2HA1.
On panel 122VU:
· Open circuit breaker 2HA2 between 5 and 10
seconds.
· Close circuit breaker 2HA2.

5. Close-up
Subtask 24-24-00-860-051-A
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) If the test continues for more than 30 seconds, on the panel 22VU, the FAULT legend of the
EXTRACT pushbutton switch comes on.
In this case, release then push the EXTRACT pushbutton switch (the FAULT legend goes off).
(2) On the HYD section of the panel 50VU, push the LEAK MEASUREMENT VALVES/B pushbutton
switch (the OFF legend goes off).
(3) Depressurize the Blue hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003) .
(4) Remove the LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS (98D27803500001) of the flap/slat control lever.
(5) Do the EIS stop procedure
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002) .
(6) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002) .

B. Close Access
(1) Close the access doors 812 and 822.
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
