What is Nutrition?

Food that provides the energy and nutrients you need to be healthy. These
nutrients include proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water
that our body needs daily. Good nutrition – an adequate, well balanced diet
combined with regular physical activity – is a cornerstone of good health. Poor
nutrition can lead to reduced immunity, increased susceptibility to disease,
impaired physical and mental development, and reduced productivity.

How do you achieve a healthy lifestyle?

1. Healthy eating. The key is to


 Eat a variety of foods, including vegetables, fruits, and whole-grain
products
 Eat lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, and low-fat dairy products
 Drink lots of water
 Limit salt, sugar, alcohol, saturated fat, and trans fat in your diet
2. Lessen your alcohol intake along with your other vices (ex. smoking)
3. Have a balanced diet between all the nutrients your body needs.
4. Exercise daily even for atleast 30 minutes
5. Manage your stress levels
6. Avoid environmental hazards as much as possible
