Greetings Zhang D.L,

My name is Pranav and I am a team leader at Applied Technical Services, in charge of the automotive
fire accidents. Our company’s main goal is to serve the public by bringing new ideas and reforms that
can help change the livelihood. Recently, Atlanta has seen a lot of vehicle fires due to which we as a
company were researching on ways to reduce the amount of such fires. I stumbled upon your paper that
was titled “Study on vehicle fire safety.” I was amazed by the method “in-depth investigation” offered in
your paper. It talked about how a visit to the burn site after the incident could help one reach the root
cause of the fire. The flow chart explaining each step really helps one understand the processes better.
Additionally, the use of the investigation method on the case studies really showed the potential of the
method and how it can be used to deduce most fires.

Concerning this, I have a few questions regarding vehicle fires that need to be answered by you as we
are working on proposing a similar approach to the county here in Atlanta.

1. What preventive measures can be taken before the accident actually happens?

The paper mostly talks about how one can get identify the cause of the problems after the vehicle has
been damaged. The case studies go hand to hand with this, by providing images that convey information
on how the fires were caused. The paper didn’t talk about how one can identify problems before having
to go through the trauma the fire damage causes. The investigation method doesn’t mention about the
preventive measures that can be taken before the accident happens.

2. What if the cause of the fire wasn’t a manufactural defect?

Most of the times, fires are caused due to wear and tear of the vehicle. The paper almost always blames
the manufacturing company for their faults. But in some situations, it could be due to irregular roads
that caused the car the topple over. There could be involvement of other parties in such cases. We are
sure that you would’ve also come across such a case and we wanted to know why such an argument
wasn’t included in the paper or could it be that you found another possible argument against it. It would
be great to see your research on this certain topic.

3. What did the further analysis of the relationship between defects and fires provide?

You mentioned that there was more research and analysis that needed to be done to help deduce
vehicle fires. You mentioned a scientific approach and concluded the paragraph leaving us readers in a
bit of a cliff-hanger. As mentioned above, we are looking to apply this approach of yours in the city of
Atlanta and would like to know more about what you have come across since the publication of this
paper.

We really look forward to your answers to these questions and feel free to contact us back to the same
address if any concerns should come across. We will be sure to contact you if any such doubts arise.

Thanking You,

Sincerely,

Pranav Dadu
