In celebration of the 2016 National Science and Technology Week , the National

Research Council of the Philippines of the Department of Science and Technology


(DOST-NRCP)) is conducting a Poster Making Contest for Grades 7, 8, 9, and
10. These are the contest mechanics and guidelines:

1. The contest is open to Grades 7, 8, 9, and 10 students from any public or private
schools.

2. The poster must illustrate, interpret and emphasize the theme:

JUAN SCIENCE, ONE NATION:

Magandang Bukas mula sa Pagtuklas at Makabagong Teknolohiya

3. Thirteen (13) finalists will be selected from all entries, from which NRCP shall
choose one (1) grand winner and two (2) runners up (1st and 2nd). The artist of the
winning poster will receive a P5,000.00 cash prize and a Plaque of Excellence, while
1st and 2nd runners up shall receive P3,000.00 and P2,000.00, respectively.

4. All 13 poster finalists will be featured in the 2017 DOST-NRCP Calendar. The
winning poster will be featured on the cover of the Calendar and will be part of the
cover design of the Annual Report Publication of NRCP. All finalists will be given
Certificates of Participation (student) and Appreciation (art coach and school).

5. Theentries will be judged according to the following criteria:


CREATIVITY/PRESENTATION 40%
ORIGINALITY 30%
RELEVANCE 30%

6. The poster must be done in free hand using the following materials (to be provided
by contestant):1

a. A ¼ -size illustration board (white background, vertical orientation) and regular


pencil
b. Permitted coloring materials: oil pastel/craypas, markers, ink, oil, acrylic and
water color

7. Official school entries must be submitted to NRCP on or before 21 July


2016 with letter of endorsement addressed to Dr. Marieta Bañez Sumagaysay, NRCP
Executive Director, at National Research Council of the Philippines, Gen. Santos Ave.,
Bicutan, Taguig City.
8. Shortlisting will be held on 22 July 2016. The awarding ceremonies will be held
on July 25, 2016 during the Opening Ceremonies of the DOST 2016 National Science
and Technology Week at the NRCP Auditorium.

9. The student-artist is accountable for any issues that may arise with regard to the
originality and authenticity of the design. All posters will automatically become official
property of the DOST -National Research Council of the Philippines. DOST-NRCP
reserves the right to revoke all prizes and titles herein in any case of misrepresentation
or fraud, intended or otherwise, committed by any finalist upon due investigation by
the DOST NRCP Taskforce for the 2016 NSTW.

Mechanics and Criteria for the POSTER MAKING CONTEST 2016

This Poster Making Contest is part of the Philippine Independence Day Celebration

to involve the artistically inclined Filipino artists and promote awareness of “Kalinangang

Pinoy at Turismo”.

It will be held on the 3rd of June 2016, 10:00 A.M. @ Sheraton Hotel.

A. MECHANICS:

1. The Poster Making Contest is open to all Filipino artists classified according to the

following categories:

Category A – 8 years old to 12 years old

Category B - 13 years old to 17 years old

Category C – 18 years old and above

2. All interested applicants must submit a pre-registration form. Pre- registration form

will be given to those interested applicants.

3. The theme for the poster making contest shall be: “Kalinangang Pinoy at Turismo

2016”.

4. The size of the poster should be A3.

5. All needed materials must be provided by the participants during the contest day

such as:

Drawing paper

Pencil

Oil paints

Water color

Crayons

Coloring pens

Others

6. All artworks must be done on the spot and must be completed within the allotted

time of two (2) hours.

7. All entries must be pre-numbered. No other identifying marks will be allowed to

appear in the artworks.


8. All entries shall be judged by a Board of Judges composed of experts on the fields

of arts.

9. The prizes shall be:

CATEGORY A

1st Place - QR 500 w/ certificate

2nd Place - QR 300 w/ certificate

3rd Place - QR 200 w/ certificate

CATEGORY B

1st Place - QR 500 w/ certificate

2nd Place - QR 300 w/ certificate

3rd Place - QR 200 w/ certificate

CATEGORY C

1st Place - QR 1000 w/ certificate

2nd Place - QR 700 w/ certificate

3rd Place - QR 500 w/ certificate

10.Non- winning entries shall be given a certificate of appreciation signed by the

chairman of the UFOQ and the Philippine Embassy representative.

11.Winning and all other entries shall be the property of the organizers and will be

exhibited right away after the competition on June 3, 2016.

12.Contest schedule shall be on June 3, 2016 ( Friday) 10:00 Am to 12:00 Noon.

13.Winners will be identified at the end of the activity. Awarding of winners shall be

given during the 118th Philippine Independence Day Celebration.

B. CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

All artworks will be judged based on the following criteria:

Relevance to the theme - 40 %

Creativity and Presentation - 40%

Originality - 20%

TOTAL - 100%
Poster Making Contest Mechanics

The contest is open to all IBED (PGS, MGS & HS), CAS & SOL students, faculty and staff (except Art
teachers and school artists) of San Beda College Alabang.

Each participant should submit ONE entry only.

The poster must illustrate, interpret and emphasize the theme of the Sto. Niño celebration:

(“Viva Sto. Niño: Sandigan ng Bawat Bedista sa Kapayapaan at Pagkakaisa”).

The following materials will be used in the contest:

A. A ¼ illustration board (white background & vertical format) and a Mongol pencil (to be provided by
the contestant)

B. Coloring material: oil pastel/craypas, markers, ink, mixed media, oil, acrylic and watercolor (to be
provided by the contestant) *Use of other materials not specified above is strictly prohibited.

Entries must be submitted not later than November 29, 2011 (Tuesday) at the IBED Guidance &
Counseling Services Head office at St. Benedict building. Posters must be done in free hand and be
officially submitted to Ms. Norie Gesmundo. The artist will be held accountable to any issues that may
arise with regards to the originality and authenticity of the design. Entries of the 10 finalists will be
exhibited at the Museum after the contest and during the duration of the Sto. Niño celebration.

The posters will be judged according to the following criteria: creativity and presentation (40%),
originality (30%) and relevance to the theme (30%).

Ten finalists will be chosen and one winning poster will be chosen. A cash prize of 3,000 will be given to
the winner. The ten finalists will receive Certificates of Participation.

The winning poster will automatically become official property of San Beda College Alabang.
