RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

2.1 Sampling Design

The data regarding the perception about asymmetry in product packaging has been collected
from energetic educated consumers and has been studied here. For that purpose, a questionnaire
was designed that included questions relating to various aspects of negative experiences of
consumers due to misleading and deceptive packaging. Accordingly a survey was carried out
among a sample of students of Tezpur University.

2.2 Sampling technique:

The technique used is Probability sampling where a little attempt is made to generate a
representative sample. In probability sampling, each element has equal chance of being selected.
We used this type of sampling procedure because it satisfactorily meets the sampling
objectives. Also it involves less time and cost.

2.3 Statistical tool used for analyzing the data:

Graphical Representation using Tables & Bar diagram, Pie chart in M.S Excel.

2.4 Sample Frame:

The sampling frame consisted of 39 students pursuing M.Sc. in Mathematics, 4th semester,
Department of Mathematics, School of Sciences, Tezpur University.

2.5 Sampling method:

The method used is Simple Random Sampling for collection of primary data. Out of 39 students
of the sampling frame, 8 students were collected randomly by generating random numbers in
M.S Excel, in accordance with their roll numbers. The random numbers generated were- 32, 15,
38, 9, 20,29, 27, 38.
