METHOD STATEMENT

JOINT SEALING

Sequence Of Activities
1. VSC staff will be equipped with the necessary personal protective equipment(overalls,hard
hats,safety gloves,safety shoes,dust masks and safety googles)in order for them to be able to
carry out the activities in a health and safe manner of which there will be a zero harm.
2. Joint sealing equipment will be offloaded by the employees and carried to the designated area.
3. VSC employees will move to a specific area on ………………………………. with the
necessary sealing equipment to perform their duties.
4. VSC employees will use scraper to scrape areas where joint sealing needs t take place.
5. A paint brush will then be utilized to clean the areas where the scraper has been used.
6. The expansion joints/contracting joints shall be filled with backing code.
7. Supervisors/employees shall communicate any problems to the responsible person(pc)if there is
any installation concern of joints.
8. Poly sophied will be applied to the certain joint to finish off the process.
9. All employees applying chemicals to joints shall wear the full required PPE.
10. Any employees being exposed to the VSC chemicals shall read the MSDS for treatment

Health & Safety

1. VSC staff and safety officer to ensure safe working methods.

2. First aid kit provided at site for first aid.
3. PPE – gloves, overalls, safety shoes, goggles and dust masks to be worn at all times.
4. When an employee working on the ladder the other employee must be holding the ladder.
5. All the tools must be checked before use and findings must be recorded in the safety file
6. DSTI to be done before work start
7. Toolboxtalk must be done once a week.
8. PTO must be done once a week
9. MSDS to be communicated to all employees doing joint sealing .
10. All the safe work procedure to be communicated with all the employees
11. All employees involved on site must have a valid medicals
