• Achieved target for reduction in factory engineering budget (15 % reduction from 2017 ) .
• Executed the big bet projects for the site that include infra , energy savings , water savings and automation projects
include double deep racking , conversion of HSD boiler to Furnace oil , rooftop solar panel installation , case packer
installation , VFD installation on compressors , installing flash recovery system , energy efficient pumps installation ,
coil cooler installation , heat recovery unit installation on compressors.
• Responsible for planned / breakdown maintenance and upkeeping health of Utilties ( Boiler , DG , Chillers ,
Compressors ,Cooling towers , HVAC , DM plant , vacuum and process pumps) ,ETP and Tank farm .
• Responsible for EHS and WCM activities inside the plant .
Key projects –
• To enhance manpower productivity and eliminate manual packing , first ever banded casepacker was installed on
cascade 1. This lead to reduction of 9 FTE on EOL packing and improved the output of line by 2 % .
• Lead the team to achieve the factory cost target by inhousing Pears 35 gm packing line from third party which lead to
savings of 2.75 cr annually. This included optimization of space inside factory to accommodate the packing machine,
finalization of layout , shifting and installation of machines from 3P to factory and commissioning
To achieve the sustainability targets , lead several projects for solar panel installation on roof , solar water heater
installation for hot water requirement, VFD installation on 1000 cfm IR compressor , heat recovery unit installation for
1000 cfm compressor to heat process water , coil cooler for compressor to reduce evaporative and blowdown water loss
• Led the team to increase the storage space inside the factory through double deep racking , single deep racking using idle
racks available in other HUL units which helped in smoothening operations and decrease in unplanned stoppages inside
the
plant
Site Engineering Manager – Orai Detergents Factory, Hindustan Unilever Limited (August 2016 – May 2018 )
Highlights 6)
• Orai is a personal wash site for Unilever located in the heartland of central India, catering to around 34000 tons of
toilet soap volumes for HUL annually
• Played an instrumental role in transforming the factory by reducing the cost of operations through efficiency
improvements of process plants and all utility operations for the factory.
• Achieved the vision of having best in class performance of the process plant and utilities for the factory
• Key member of the DFA (Distilled Fatty Acid) SCLF (Supply Chain Leadership Forum) Network which lead to
innovations being rolled out across the company at a very quick rate to leverage improvements across a large number
of sites
• Achieved FWS audit score > 98%, and Nil lost time accidents and continuous improvement in AIFR
• Achieved targets for water consumption , energy ,Sox ,CO2 and waste generation for 2016 and 2017
Key Projects –
SAACKE Burner – Firing of Palm Fatty Oil Residue in High Pressure Boiler
• Lead the team that delivered a first of its kind innovation for Unilever globally – firing Palm Fatty Acid Residue oil
(Renewable vegetable oil) in the high pressure boiler at Orai, thus substituting Furnace Oil (fossil fuel) completely
• The project helped Unilever to crack a renewable fuel source for High Pressure boilers and completely eliminate the
use of Furnace oil from the India operations – a sustainable disruption in the boiler operation
• Conceptualized and aligned the team and all stake-holders on undertaking the challenge of firing 100% residue oil in
the boiler, something which was never achieved before
• This helped convert residue, a by-product of a process plant at our manufacturing setup into valuable fuel oil, thus
making the unit self-sufficient for its high pressure steam requirement
• Lead the team from the design phase to execution phase through close collaborations with the suppliers of various
components of the setup
• Development of the boiler with the OEM to incorporate the design requirements of the new burner
• Rollout of the project Pan India across 6 sites
• Residue is carbon neutral and has trace sulphur content (0.1%) against a CO2 footprint of 3122 kg/ton and 4% sulphur
content in Furnace oil
• Huge environmental impact of replacing 4500 tons of furnace oil with residue oil translating into reduction of 14000
tons of CO2 and 300 tons of SOx emissions for Unilever in India

countries with lead time varying from 2 to 70 days .
• Improved raw material / packing material availability index from 50% to 80% for next two weeks production by
coordinating with purchase officers of different materials to prepare pareto for top loss items and implemented
vendor managed inventory model , cross verification of process orders , establishing system for better visibility of
plan for JIT suppliers .
• Undertook and successfully achieved the target of mobilizing non moving stock to free up space in warehouse which
was under huge contraints due to 7 cr of non moving /slow moving stock lying in warehouse by conducting 100%
physical stock verification to identify any mismatches , selling off the scrap material , Segregated the old moving / non
moving stock from moving stock by partitioning the W/h in different bays , installed G+3 racks for specific packing
material and coordinating with the procurement , w/h officers to identify all non moving / slow moving stocks , club
them as part of write off for different customers and rigorously follow-up for write off approval / reusage at other
plants leading to reduction in 7 cr of inventory in 6 months.
• Improved the job workers output (prebanding operations and post banding operations along with manufacturing )
by 26% utilizing the exisiting resources by prepare efficiency loss tree and taking actions to provide complete
visibility of next two weeks plan along with complete raw material / packing material stock transfer by Saturday for
next week production , to train 3P employees on specific maintenance of labelling machines , spare part availability
and designated responsibility for daily reconciliation and production discussion with supply chain executive .
