WORK METHOD STATEMENT FOR TOILET WATER

PROOFING WORK

SCOPE OF WORK.

This procedure covers the methodology to be followed for carrying out Toilet water proofing
work in line with the approved technical specifications.

MATERIALS
Acrylic water proofing, bituminous system, sealant, primer, cement as per approved water proofing
components.

MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT


Chipping machine, Hammering machine, Grinding machine, blower machine, trowel, wire brush

PREPARATORY WORK

 The surface which has to be water proofed should be cleaned of loose material, dead
mortars by chipping or grinding the surface.
 If any cracks in the surface it has be treated as per water proofing agencies or
manufactures instructions.
 All the civil work should be completed before water proofing.
 The flooring levels during the finishing of screed should be adjusted to the required slope
towards the floor trap.
 Haunching should be done where it required.

BORE PACKING

 The inner side of the cutouts in RCC should be hacked and free from dust.
 The epoxy bonding agent of approved make shall be applied over the hacked surface.
 The down take pipes are positioned in the bore hole and packed with the non-shrinkable
compound of approved make or GP2.
 Structural water ponding test should be done for find the source of leakages in the slab.
WORK METHODOLOGY

 In toilets before screed or tiling the water proofing should be done on the structural slab
or sunken slab.
 Primer application is done over all the surface using brush or roller and it should be left
for dry or as per manufacture instruction.
 Caulking strips should be fixed over corners and press firmly to eliminate the air gaps.
 The water proofing compound shall be applied to a height of 300m above from the FFL
on the walls.
 A special care to take care of sticking caulking strips around the floor traps, corners and
junctions to ensure water tightness.
 The number of coating and thickness of coating should be as per manufacturer’s
instructions.
 In case of floor trap where the flange is fixed through bore packing the water proofing is
taken on to the flange and tucked into the pipe.
 Suitable sealant of approved make should be applied around the down take pipes.
 Then allow the coating to dry and period of curing should be as per manufacturer’s
specification.
 After curing, water ponding test to be conduct for 24 hours, water level should be more
than 250mm by making bund walls.
 The waterproofing layer should not get damage it should be barricade and restrict the
man movements.
 Then the water proofing should be screed of concrete or should be plastered for the tile
works.
