NAME
SYMBOL
A spirit born from true darkness. At first, he was barley sentient, only seeking out souls and
floating around aimlessly whenever he couldn't find one. As he found and absorbed souls, he
slowly started to develop awareness and a general understanding of the world. As a dark spirit, he
could barely interact with the world around. Therefore, he decided to create a body of his own,
which he did once he was strong enough. This didn't felt right though, it felt more like controlling a
puppet trough strings. If creating his own body wasn't going to cut it, he was going to steal
someone else's. And so he did. Whenever he stole a body, he would first steal and consume the
soul and then move into the now uninhabited body. His first body was anything but remarkable,
but it was the best he could do with his powers at the time.
Slowly but surely, Gravius was able to claim better and better bodies. But the process was taking
far too long. That's when he got an idea. If he started putting people against one another, he could
swoop in when they were vulnerable and claim their bodies. This scheming rapidly increased the
speed at which he could improve his power and before he knew it, he became an urban legend
amongst the lower planes. As his reputation grew, massive paranoia spread as people started to
believe close allies had become enemies that were trying to take them over, making it even easier
for Gravius to steal bodies.
He has tried out a multitude of bodies, muscular bodies, beast-like bodies, attractive bodies,
aquaitic bodies, male, female, genderless. After a lot of experimentation, he realized that he
preferred male muscular bodies, as his magical intellect transfered over regardless of body type.
As long as they were strong enough. He was attracted to female bodies and didn't mind whether
he had to use male or female bodies to attract them. Due to his scheming, he could never stay in
one place for too long, constantly hoping between layers, finding stronger and stronger bodies
until he arrived at a body that was humanoid, 8 feet tall and incredibly muscular. He had hit a peak
and didn't even care about switching bodies at this point, though he didn't want others to discover
his identity, killing those that did. Gravius still put others against one another and reaped the
rewards from the side lines, not wanting to make a huge name out of himself until he had become
an absolute God.
However, when he learned of the demon lord's existence he was amazed and overwhelmed to
learn that such a powerful creature existed. He wanted that body, but understood that obtaining it
wasn't going to be so easy. Therefore, he would swear alliance to the demon lord, hoping for one
day there to be an opportunity to claim said body.
When the archfiends were send to the world of mortal, Gravius saw an opportunity to steal the
demon lords body. If he were to rapidly increase his strength by feeding on souls, he would be
able to take on a weakened demon lord once he was resurrected by the demon lords. However...
the hero's appearence ruined that.
During the clash between the hero and his party, Gravius managed to land a devastating blow on
the hero. In turn, he was slain by the hero's party. The hero went into a weird statis, not waking up
but his body stayed in a relative good health. When the hero woke up, the person occupying his
body was no longer the hero, but Gravius. And thus started the story of the archfiend hero.
Though he was furious at first to be stuck in a mortal body, Gravius quickly takes an interest in
this new way of living and the plane that the mortals roam.
