the lighter substances with the help of wind.
Distillation - is the process of separating components of a mixture based on different boiling points.

Evaporation - is a technique used in separating soluble solid from a liquid.

Decantation - is a process to separate mixtures by removing a liquid layer that is free of a precipitate. The
purpose may be to obtain a decant (liquid free from particulates) or to recover the precipitate.

Filtration - is a technique in which insoluble liquid is separated form liquid

Chromatography - Is actually a way of separating out a mixture of chemicals, which are in gas or liquid
form, by letting them creep slowly past another substance, which is typically a liquid or solid.

Flotation - is a way of separating mixtures. It is used to separate substances by whether they float or sink.
Physical manipulation - Is a technique used in separating the solid components of a
heterogeneous mixture.
Use of Magnets - a technique used in separating metals from non-metals.
Sieving - Sieving is defined as a method in which two or more components of different sizes

Sol – A sol is a colloid made out of very small solid particles in a continuous liquid medium
Emulsion – An emulsion is a suspension of two liquids that usually do not mix together. These liquids
that do not mix are said to be immiscible. Foam – It consists of gas dispersed in solid or liquid
Aerosol – It consists of minute liquid or solid particles in a gas.

Examples of Sol colloids:

Protoplasm, gel, starch in water, blood, paint, and pigmented ink.

Examples of Emulsion colloids

Butter, egg yolk and mayonnaise

Examples of Foam colloids

Shaving cream, marshmallow, Styrofoam and Whipped cream
