UPGRADES & ARTIFACTS

WHAT SHOULD I SPEND GEMS ON FIRST?

Auto-attack speed to max. (20 levels)

WHAT SHOULD I NOT SPEND GEMS ON?

Companion boxes. You'll get shards later for free from dailies and/or Rebirth crystals. Once
you've maxed your Artifacts and other things that require gems, get shards.

WHAT ARTIFACTS SHOULD I LEVEL FIRST?

Depends on what you want to do.

- Damage: Ogre Power, Bedonier, Heart of Ego Weapon, Horn of Black Dragon, Badge of
Arhen
- Rapid Rebirth Farm: Red Dragon, Death Cult, Outlander, Boots of Maxwell

HOW DO DAMAGE BOOSTS FROM ARTIFACTS WORK?

Anything with the same description is additive. Anything with a different description is
multiplicative.

For example:
- all sources of "Artifact Damage %" add together, then are multiplied to your total (Heart
of Ego Weapon, Horn of Black Dragon)
- all sources of "Rebirth Starting Point" add together (Eye of Red Dragon, Necklace of
Outlander, Elementals)
- "Indie Damage %" is a unique standalone multiplicative buff (Badge of Arhen)
- "Belt Damage %" is a unique standalone multiplicative buff (Belt of Ogre Power)

DO ARTIFACTS HAVE MAX LEVELS?

Yes, check the Discord for screenshots.

HOW DO SWORD/SOUL UPGRADES WORK?

Sword essence buffs (Sword → Sword/Soul) are multiplicative (200% + 1000% = 2000%).
Each individual buff there multiplies your total dmg or soul gain by that amount. So when you
unlock a new "Blade" or new "Soul" buff, it's worth it to dump essence in there even if you can't
do multiples of 10 or 50. Even 1 point in there will give you an overall 10% boost.

When your highest Blade/Soul level is close to unlocking a new Blade/Soul, it is usually worth it
to ignore the previous buffs and dump essence in the last one to unlock the next.
HOW DO SKINS WORK?

All skin buffs are active as soon as you buy them, no matter what costume you have on.
Note that skin buffs are additive. Meaning that 1 Skin at 200% and 1 Skin at 400% gives you
600%, not 800%.

Sword Skins = dmg%

Helm Skins = critdmg%
Body Skins = essence gain%
Cape Skins = soul gain%

Once you've purchased all skins, you can move on to buying Skin buff boosters in the Rift Shop
(Shop tab).

HOW DO FOOD BUFFS WORK?

Every day, you get 5 free entries to hunt for ingredients (Shop → Cook → Ingredient). Collect
ingredients and level at least the Haste and Strength Recipes to max (Level 5) before starting to
use buffs. You'll need them later.

Level 5 Dessert of Haste: Dash Speed +100% for 30 min (max)

Level X Bread of Penetration: Critical Chance + ???
Level X Beverage of Soulful: Soul Gain + ???
Level 5 Meat Dish of Strength: Attack Power +250% for 30 min (max) n

SKILLS
WHAT ARE ALL THE POSSIBLE SKILLS?

Skill 1 Options (bottom skill on screen)

Time Binding - Pauses boss timer for 1 second (10 sec cooldown)
Dimension Slash - Powerful 1 hit attack for 20x Soul Dmg + 20x Crit dmg (12 sec cooldown)
Ancestor's Blade - 1 hit attack for 12x Crit dmg (6 sec cooldown)

Sharpened Blade - 100% crit for 10 seconds (180 sec cooldown)
Strength of Determination - 2x damage bonus for 10 seconds (180 sec cooldown)
Soul Torrent - 2x soul gain for 10 seconds (180 sec cooldown)
Wind Blade - Auto attack at max speed for 10 seconds (180 sec cooldown)

Note: these are all base skills, various Talents or Companions may buff these or give you
tree-specific skills that replace them.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CRIT ATTACK/SOUL ATTACK/MIXED?

Crit attack is the yellow numbers, done by your critical regular attacks. Soul attack is the purple
numbers, the attack that happens when the purple sword bar beneath your character fills up.
"Mixed" just means both are used. Different skills and buffs boost each damage type differently.

Things to note:
- Different Companions have different damage based off of these stats. For example, K
(Assassin)'s dps is purely based off your Crit damage. Christine (Solerick Knight)'s
damage is based off both Crit and Soul. Evangelin (Witch) is Soul only. You can check
their dmg type on their Level tab.
- Different Secondary Talent trees use different stats. Each Talent tree is Crit only, Soul
only, or Mixed. Make sure you pick one that suits your upgrade style.

WHAT ARE THE SECONDARY TALENT TREES?

Check the Discord for screenshots.

WHAT'S BETTER, CRIT ATTACK OR SOUL ATTACK?

We don't know yet, lol. As far as we know, everything has a max, so you'll get all the boosts in
the end.

DUNGEONS
WHERE SHOULD I PUSH TO IN RIFT?
Grind where you can beat the level in under 10 seconds (Dash all the way). This is the best
value for your time, since the faster you finish the dungeon, the sooner you can farm for more
tickets.

Why not push further? The gains in Rift are linear, while the monster HP is exponential. For
example, going up 5 levels will only get you 5 more rift shards, but the monsters might have
50% more HP and take you 2x the time. Not worth it.

HOW ARE GAINS DETERMINED IN THE ESSENCE DUNGEON?

It's based on all your +essence boosts and your maximum stage. Doing a long run every once in
a while to push up your max stage is very important for this reason. After pushing it as high as
you can, you can drop back and farm for essence tickets to gain a lot more per ticket than you
were before.

JEWELS
WHAT JEWELS SHOULD I GET FIRST?

1. First, get a Jewel of Power (dmg%). Get it to Epic. You will be dumping all future
ultimate stones into this gem until it's at +200, since it's good for all builds.
2. After getting your Power to Epic, unlock slots and get other Jewels and level them to
Epic. You'll want at least 1 of each of these, in this priority:
a. Jewel of Affluent (soul gain%)
b. Jewel of Violent/Jewel of Hunger (critdmg%/souldmg% - for crit builds, get
Violent. For soul builds, get Hunger. For mixed builds, get both)
c. For crit builds, fill the rest with Jewel of Sharps (crit chance%, max 10% at Epic)
until you hit 100% crit. As you gain crit from other sources like Elementals, you
can remove/replace them later as you go - crit chance past 100% does
nothing.
d. Ignore Jewel of Hardened (flat dmg+), it seems to suck.
3. Concentrate on getting one of each Jewel (except crit chance% for soul builds) type to
200.
4. Once you have one of each Jewel to 200, go back to the Power one and get it to 300.
5. If you find that you have extra Jewel slots, toss in extra Epic Jewels of whatever you
haven't leveled yet. It's better than nothing.
WHY 1 OF EACH GEM FIRST (BESIDES CRITCHANCE%)?

Jewel buffs are additive. Meaning that 1 Jewel at +200% and 1 Jewel at +100,000% gives you
+100,200%, not +20000%. Jewel gains increase at higher jewel levels, so once you start getting
your Jewels to +200, they start giving upwards of 1,000,000% bonus. Adding another 60% to
that is meaningless.

WHY PAUSE LEVELING JEWELS AT 200?

Because after 200, the cost goes up to 20 ultimate stones per level. The cost difference is what
makes it more efficient to switch to leveling another Jewel instead.

WHAT COMPANIONS ARE THE BEST?

That really depends on your build. Check the active/passive skills of each Companion - some
have specific skills that complement certain Talent trees.

It is worth at least unlocking every Companion to begin with. So make sure to unlock them
all before exchanging shards to level one that you like. After grading/leveling the ones you
choose to use, consider Grading up the others to improve their Passive skills (see below). Every
companion grade/level does give you a small damage boost, so it's worth it eventually.

One tip for beginners: UNLOCK + USE THE ALCHEMIST (Collet) even if you do not grade
or level her. She is a source of free potions that DO count toward your "Potions Used"
achievement. Leave her on overnight even if she's not your main staging companion to get a
bunch of free achievement gems. Swap her out for someone else once you've maxed that
achievement out.

HOW DO COMPANION SKILLS WORK?

1st skill (Grade 1): Active - this is the attack or buff skill that the companion casts for you when
they are fighting with you. This is the only skill that upgrades at Grade 5/10.

2nd skill (Grade 1): Passive - this is active as soon as you unlock the companion, no matter who
is actively fighting with you. This is why at least unlocking every Companion is worth it.
Passive skills scale with Companion grade (star) and improve every odd grade (star):
3/5/7/9.
3rd skill (Grade 5): "Activate when accompanied by a companion" = only active when the
companion is fighting with you, like the 1st skill.

4th skill (Grade 10): "Activate when accompanied by a companion" = only active when the
companion is fighting with you, like the 1st skill.

EPIC SWORDS
With the Introduction of Epic Swords, breaking through walls will be less of a problem in long
term.

Each Tier has 10 Epic Swords.

The Damage of each Epic Sword is the same under each Tier. So all S Tier Swords have the
same damage, but every S Tier Sword is much better than any A Tier sword, and A Tier are
better than B Tier and so on.

There is also a sword in every Tier for each upgrade category. And the higher the Tier of the
Sword, the more efficient the Sword Perks can be.

Example: if we take the C Tier Epic Sword called "Cleaving Saw" and check the Sword Perks
(that unlock by leveling up the sword), we can see the perk "Potion High" that increases the
duration of the berserker potion by 2% each upgrade, ending with 10% at maximum level. We
can find this same Perk on the B Tier Epic Sword called "Enforcer". Instead of 2% each
upgrade, and only having 1 perk, this sword increases the duration of the berserker potion by
5% each upgrade and has a second perk called "Reflex Nerve Sync", which increases the
duration of the time potion by 5% each upgrade, which means both of these perks increase at a
total of 25% at maximum level.

When you unlock an Epic Sword, you can equip it as a sword skin aswell (Sword > Sword Skin
> Epic Skin). Some of them have animations (or are even animated), such as Shape of Fury for
example.

OTHER
WHEN SHOULD I OPEN MAIL?

On bosses preferably. Specifically, on bosses on stages that are a multiple of 10 (i.e. the stage
# ends in 0) to get the most soul bonus.

If you are close to breaking an x00 tier in your Swordsmanship, the fastest way to farm souls is
to find the highest x0 boss that you can't beat, and farm mails on him until you break the wall.
WHAT'S THE FASTEST WAY TO GRIND CRYSTALS OF REBIRTH?

- Max your Rebirth Start% cap

- Max your Dash speed food buff
- Max your Assassin Companion (Dash speed, Dash damage) and make her active
- Get to 90%+ of your max stage for the 50% bonus, and rebirth immediately
- Repeat

This will kill your sword essence gains, but rapid rebirths are the way to go to grind Rebirth
skills.

WHAT'S THE MAX REBIRTH START% CAP?

60%.
Necklace of Outlander Lv 30 - 30% (Artifact)
Eye of Red Dragon Lv 20 - 20% (Artifact)
Fairy of Rebirth Lv 5 - 10% (Earth Elemental)
