 Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana, Kanya Kelavni

 Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme


 Interest subsidy scheme on education loan

Objective
To provide financial support to bright and needy students of higher education for career
development.

Eligibility Criteria
 Passed 12th standard with 60 or more percentile.
 Family income must be up to 6.00 lakh
 Education loan received from scheduled banks on or after date 04/07/17 to pursue higher
Education.
 Not Availed Benefit of any other Government Scheme.

Amount of Subsidy
 Subsidy is available on education Loan up to Rs.10lakh.
 Interest subsidy will be deposited in applicant’s loan account at the end of 31st March of
every year.

 NAMO E-tablet Scheme

Objective
The main aim of this scheme is to help meritorious students get better aid in their higher education. It
will also encourage current aspirants to work harder.

Eligibility Criteria
For being eligible for this scheme, the students should have passed the 12th examination from a
recognized institution and board in Gujarat. He or she must be in the first year of college. Even,
Students who have taken up polytechnic are also eligible.

Token amount of Tablet and Budget:


An amount of 1000 rupees needs to be submitted for the tablets. The real market price for these
tablets is around Rs. 8000-9000. So getting them at a price of 1000 rupees is a sane idea. These
tablets will be supplied by two companies. These companies are Acer and Lenovo. A total of 3 Lakh
students across the state will be benefitted under this scheme. The initial budget set aside for this
scheme is around Rs.200 crore as stated by the chief minister of Gujarat.

 Global Career and Admission Counseling Centre

Introduction
 Global Career and Admission Counseling Centre a comprehensive, development
Program designed to assist individuals, in marketing and implementing informed
Education and occupational choices.
 Career guidance and Counseling can play an important role in supporting the Transition
from school to career or tertiary education, Vocational Guidance And Counseling is seen
as an effective bridge between school and work, and Home and society.
 It is a program which helps develop an individual's competencies in self-knowledge,
Educational and occupational exploration and career planning.

Why We Need GCACC Centre?


 As colleges and Universities offer numerous career oriented courses for a Students, it is
very difficult to make a choice. Most of the students choose a Career from another
student’s preferences or prevailing trend of the time.
 The students are mostly influenced by advertisements in the media by various Institutes
or accept the career chosen by their parents.
 For a student choosing a career path that is far from one’s interest and ability can cause
dissatisfaction in the long run. So it is important that the students take guidance for
choosing a career path for a long term perspective.
 It will help the students, to explore self, to career of his interest, planning and preparation
of career and get the best career opportunity available.

opportunities Information to all the students of colleges and schools of Gujarat.

 NAMO WIFI Project

 The facility of internet is being provided to the students by the Government of Gujarat.
 Administrative approval of Rs. 30 Corers has been given for the NAMO WIFI Facilitation
during the year 2017-18 by the Digital Education Development Fund (DEDF).
 Under NAMO WiFi project 107 government colleges and 03 universities are included.
 The main objective of the NAMO WiFi project is to fill a digital gap in higher education
institutions in the state of Gujarat.
 NAMO WiFi is being established by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in
colleges and universities.
 The operation of NAMO WiFi installation has been done in 3 different steps:

 In Phase 1: 27 colleges, 02 University


 In Phase 2: 45 colleges, 01 University
 In Phase 3: 35 colleges

 Under the NAMO WiFi project, work has been completed in 101 colleges and 03
universities till date.
 For study, 150,000 students are using NAMO WiFi.
 Cable Internet access only controls computers in certain physical locations. When access
to WiFi can be done at any place of the student. By using NAMO WiFi students can get
all types of information on through the Internet. Apart from this, they can watch videos
corresponding to education and get access to various types of information in their own
tablets, mobile phones and laptops.

 RUSA- Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan
 Finishing School

It is an Employability Enhancement Initiative of the Education Department, Government of


Gujarat for imparting training on Skill development for students of Higher and Technical
Education to make them Industry-ready.

Finishing School Colleges:


 Year 2016-17 : 40 Government colleges (20 Higher & 20 Technical)
 Year 2017-18 : 80 Government colleges (40 Higher & 40 Technical)
Disbursed Grant To various Finishing School Colleges:
 Year 2016-17 : Rs. 2 Crores disbursed
 Year 2017-18 : Rs. 2 Crores disbursed

In 2016-17, Training was imparted to 2311 students for 50 hours.

In 2017-18, Training has been imparted to 2521 Students

 FDP - Training and Capability Program

Knowledge Consortium Of Gujarat is pleased to inform you that we are organizing one week
Training Programs for the faculties of different Universities / Colleges of Gujarat to provide
opportunities for professional and career development as per UGC norms, so that faculties may fulfill
their role and responsibility within the system of higher education. It is proposed to enhance their
motivational skills and knowledge through systematic orientation in specific topics, techniques and
methodologies, thereby to encourage them to take initiatives for innovative and creative work.

The focus of the training program will be:


 Enhancement of teaching, learning and evaluation related skills.
 To make them acquainted with modern assessment related methodologies.
 To brainstorm them with operational and administrative issues.
 To give an overview of initiatives of KCG
 To encourage faculties to participate in major and minor research

Proposed orientation program is free of cost for the participating Faculties.

NOTE:
 The travel and accommodation expenses are to be borne by the participants.
 Lunch and refreshments will be provided by KCG during the Training Program.
 The participants will be entitled to get paid leave for the duration of the training program
from their parent institute.

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM FOR FACULTY (KMPF)

Vision:
The vision of this initiative is to build capabilities of faculties of institutions of higher education in the
state by integrating ICT and English in their role of creating and dissemination of knowledge and
also to equip them in their respective knowledge domain.
Objectives:
1. Language Objectives

 To improve proficiency in English and Communication Skills.


 To develop proficiency in Spoken Skills for Teaching-Learning purpose.
 To develop proficiency in academic Reading Skills for Teaching & Research purposes.

2. E-Skills Objectives

 To develop familiarity with Computer Skills and use of internet for Education and
Research.
 To develop ICT-based teaching learning tools including multimedia, web based tools and
e content.
 To empower faculties to use e resources including e books & e journals for teaching and
research purposes with internet especially for knowledge management.

3. Professional Development Objectives

 Developing commitment and integrity towards own profession


 Developing a sense of ownership towards own discipline
 Developing core research interest in one’s discipline and methodology of teaching and
research.

Rationale/ Justification:
Since knowledge transaction in different domains takes place through ICT, English, it is necessary to
equip teachers in ICT and English. It is expected that teachers will develop information technology
skills, higher subject knowledge base and English language skills. Further, it is expected that their
research output would be quantitatively and qualitatively enhanced.

In the present educational context, a teacher is a manager of knowledge for and on behalf of the
students’ community so that s/he can make her/his students proficient managers of knowledge. It is
possible only if all faculties are equipped with proficiency in ICT and English.

The course has been designed to equip people with basic skills of communication, information
technology and functional English. The knowledge of English Language with computer skills would
help learners to be more efficient and competent to face everyday challenges.

Background/ Current situation:


The term knowledge in the preceding part of the preface is used in the sense of information without
over-sighting that the ultimate destination of information is wisdom and knowledge, the immediate.
The pre-requisite of the ultimate destination, however, is a beginning in the form of information.
Therefore, the present project is a beginning. It is hoped that the project of such a large-scale would
not only have an impact on the educational development of the particular faculty and college, but
also at the State level. Moreover, the project would also provide an impetus to the core research
skills by encouraging and augmenting e-research activity to the international academic community.

Strategy:
 Organize training for capacity building of faculties
 Preparing material for training
 Cascade model for training and capacity building

Methodology and plan of action:


The Action plan of the project at its first stage would include need analysis so as to prepare suitable
syllabus. It will be followed by preparation of study materials. The next stage would involve training
of Masters Trainers (MT) who would train MT for every institution. In the end there shall be impact
assessment of the project. Also every papers would create his or her blog and participate in writing
papers for research. In order to equip the college teachers with soft skills and information
technology, training shall be organized by following cascade model. A time table schedule will be
developed to cover all teachers in a year. Each teacher in the state is expected to undergo such
training within the stipulated period.

Possible delineation of tasks and time schedule:


 Course Plan - Already prepared in case of the first two components
 Course Implementation- Training of the Master Key Trainers at the district levels
 Master trainers to train faculties at the cluster level (CLT) who would train faculties in their
college.
 Procedural unit wise training

Goals:
1. Short term- 0 to 6 months- test to find out who needs training

 Create Syllabus at two levels: Basic- introducing Academic English and ICT for U.G Level
faculties
 Advanced- train faculties for the higher level in Academic English and ICT at the P.G
Level
 The syllabus for both the levels will be prepared, reviewed and published by the KMPF
Task force before December 2010.
 Start training the Master Trainers and finalize a training schedule for the entire batch of
teachers/ faculties in the State in systematic mode
 Conduct a test for both Academic English and ICT skills so as to assess the success rate
of the training program

2. Medium term- 6 to 12 months


 Update the syllabus of the KMPF modules and conduct training every 6 months so that
the teachers are aware of the developments in the field of Functional English and
Academic English
 Promote teachers to be connected through blogs and write research papers; join online
discussion boards and collect feedback and rework on areas that need improvement.

3. Long term - one year to 5 years

 All faculties and other target groups to be trained on a continuous basis every year.

 E-Journals
 Extensions: Sandhan, Saptdhara and Udisha
 SANDHAN (All Gujarat Integrated Classroom) is an initiative by OCHE (Office of the
Commissioner of Higher Education) and KCG (Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat), Department
of Education-Government of Gujarat.
 SANDHAN aims at providing a very creative base for Faculty and Students to fulfill the need for
having the Audio-Visual aids for imparting education in the Higher Education.
 As you know as under SANDHAN program video lecture of various UG course are being
telecasted since 2009
 SANDHAN is creating a platform which provides an excellent opportunity for the use of the
Audio-Visual medium for the telecast of lectures in a very innovative and interesting manner.
 This innovative Academic Programme “SANDHAN” through BISAG, intends to benefit more than
1130 colleges across the state imparting education in the stream of Arts, Science and
Commerce, Home Science, Education and Law.
 SANDHAN aims at aiding direct teaching being done in colleges by lectures. It also aims at
facilitating the students with direct access to the best known experts in the field.
 SANDHAN is creating a platform which provides an excellent opportunity for the use of the
Audio-Visual medium for the telecast of lectures in a very innovative and interesting manner.
SANDHAN aims at providing a very creative base for Faculties and Students to fulfill the need for
having the Audio-Visual Aids for imparting education in the Higher Education.
 The main purpose of the SANDHAN is provided with all the information related to competitive
examinations, such as higher education subjects (Commerce, Arts and Sciences) as well as
GPSC, UPSC and SCOPE to students.
 SANDHAN aims at providing a very creative base for Faculty and Students to fulfill the need for
having the Audio-Visual aids for imparting education in the Higher Education by creating a
platform which provides an excellent opportunity for the use of the Audio-Visual medium for the
telecast of lectures in a very innovative and interesting manner.
 The objective behind the setup of such an innovative academic programme is to facilitate direct
teaching and discussion of various subjects by known experts of that particular subject. It aims at
aiding direct teaching being done in colleges.
 During year 2015-16, a total of 2649 lectures have been broadcast. A total of 199 lectures have
been recorded.

E-CONTENT DETAILS:
With a view to prepare small video lectures which can be distributed through Social sites and apps, a
special e-content recording series launched during May 2014 to October 2014. Total 18 Subjects
were included in e-content series, those are:

Maths, Zoology, History, Sanskrit, Physics, Gujarati, Psychology, Bio-Chemistry, Chemistry,


Account, Hindi, Botany, Sociology, Microbiology, Statistics, Bio-Technology, B.O.M and Home
Science.

154 lectures by 141 faculty members were recorded in this lecture series.
 It benefits approximately more than 5, 00,000 students across the state by enabling the
students to have access to lectures by leveraging technology optimally and also functions
to provide a platform for facilitating academic interaction with all students and teachers
simultaneously to disseminate ideas, information and training relevant to higher education
 Form current academic year we are going to telecast the lecture as per syllabus of all
subject on Vande Gujarat Channel 13.

Saptadhara
‘Saptadhara’ provides a cultural platform to students of higher education, where they feel the bliss of
creativity.

OBJECTIVES OF SAPTDHARA:
The colleges and universities across Gujarat will have to focus on various areas of education, art
and knowledge for the manifold progress of the youth. These areas of focus are known as
Band/Cluster/Spectrum/Continuum/Symphony of Activities (Dharas):

 Gyan Dhara (Knowledge Band)


 Sarjanatmak Abhivyakti Dhara (Creative Expression Band)
 Rang, Kala ane Kaushalya Dhara (Fine Arts Band)
 Naatya Dhara (Theatre Band)
 Geet Sangeeta ane Nrutya Dhara (Music and Dance Band)
 Yog Vyayam ane Khelkud Dhara (Yoga and Sports Band)
 Samudayik Seva Dhara (Community/Social Service Band)

Activities held in all the colleges under Saptdhara.


 Under Saptdhara initiative different activities are conducted such as essay competition,
writing competition, Elocution competition, Creative activities and workshops etc. The
implemented for the overall development of students.
 These activities include district-wise colleges, number of students and activities of the
participants, as shown in the table below.

UDISHA - Universal Development of Integrated employability Skills through Higher


education Agencies:
 ‘UDISHA’ is a placement initiative where students directly connect to various employers
to improve their employability skills.
 Udisha work as a communication pathway between Employer and Job Seekers. For this,
college students are trained for soft skill and domain training as per the requirement of
Industries.
 Udisha initiative under extension at KCG is trying to deliver more appropriate skills among
the youth of Gujarat State in order to make them employable easily and as per the needs
of the markets.
 Up gradation of the placement cell and committee in the existing system by Udisha Club
 To provide personality training for the upliftment of students and to create an effective
framework for the organization.
 To train the youth of colleges and provide appropriate skills for the industry world.

Objectives
 To provide a robust platform for the extensive sharing and dissemination of knowledge
across all stakeholders of education in general and highereducation in particular.
 To introduce initiatives to increase access and equity of higher education in the State and
facilitate academic reforms in different domains of higher education in consonance with
changes in various spheres of knowledge:

 Curricular aspects
 Capacity building of teachers and principals through training
 Teaching and learning: by introducing educational technology enabled innovative
teaching, learning, research and extension activities.
 Evaluation reforms by introducing comprehensive continuous credit and grades
based assessment.
 Increasing employability of students.
 Accountable governance delivery systems in higher education.

 To connect all universities, colleges, research institutions and libraries of the State with
national and international knowledge networks.
 To facilitate interface among research scholars and faculties in the State and with visiting
international academicians particularly Non Resident Indians by arranging their visits to
the universities/ Departments/Colleges working in their area of specialization and also by
arranging their lectures through SANDHAN initiative.
 To facilitate active collaboration among centres of excellence in the state with their
counterparts in the country and beyond.
 To bridge the divide--linguistic, knowledge and digital--and also to promote capacity
building of the existing, faculties by equipping and honing their basic skills of English and
Computer for better knowledge management.
 To work for preservation and promotion of Indian knowledge systems and knowledge
manuscripts and act as the nodal agency for the National/Regional Knowledge initiatives.
 To use translation as an instrument of appropriation of knowledge in other languages and
act as the hub for translation of knowledge texts and prepare a repository of existing
translations and translators.
 To act as a Resource Centre by preparing the data base of students/research scholars/
teachers and their publications and support surveys, studies, projects to realize the
objectives of the KCG.
 To promote cutting edge research and creation of knowledge–innovation and patenting
by facilitating networking of individuals /Institutions/agencies engaged in the above
processes in accordance with Intellectual Property Rights.
 To prepare and provide models of integrated education that would facilitate holistic
development and prepare students to face the challenges of a globally competitive world
and life.

Vision
KCG envisions to generate and provide ideas and paradigms for achieving excellence in education,
educational management and policy framing for education in general and higher education in
particular. Along with considering education holistically, it would, through its initiatives pertaining to
preservation, acquisition, generation, dissemination and application of knowledge and innovation in
all domains of knowledge, ensure that Gujarat carves a unique niche for itself in the global
knowledge society in the 21st century. Further the KCG would proactively facilitate the integration of
matter, life, mind and spirit and realization of the ideal fraternity, harmonizing the ideals of liberty and
equality.
