ORGANIZAITIONAL PROFILE
COVER LETTER
“How does The Political Science Forum contribute to the achievement of the SDGs?”

As the first and sole political science organization in University of Santo Tomas,
The Political Science Forum (UST-TPSF) serves as the medium to raise sociopolitical
awareness to the Thomasian community while being able to connect with related
organizations within and outside the university.
“Youth To Be Summit” is an annual event organized by UST-TPSF, where the
forum gathered youths from different schools and youth organizations in order to discuss
the role of the youth in national development and to unite under a single goal of striving
to make the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), set by the United Nations
Development Programme attainable, one steps at a time.
The first “Youth To Be Summit” event was one of the hallmark projects of UST-
TPSF in the academic year 2017-2018 with the theme of: “Enforcing Millennial
Involvement on the 2030 Agenda.” The first Youth To Be Summit, happened last
December 1, 2017, was intended to raise awareness amongst Filipino youth and their
significant contribution in providing solutions to the challenges faced by humanity today
and strongly support the universal call to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that
all people enjoy perpetual peace and prosperity. The event was born-out of the
organization’s vision to bring to light various socio-political issues plaguing in the
Philippine society. The first Youth To Be Summit was spearheaded by Ms. Herschel
Louise Barcelon of the Externals Committee and Mr. Marvin Rene Rollo of the Interest
Guilds Committee, under the UST-TPSF President Alma Angela L. Patricio and
supervision of Department of Political Science Chairperson, Asst. Prof. Dennis C.
Coronacion, PhD.
“Youth To Be Summit 2.0” came forth last November 17, 2018 to continue the
legacy of the first Youth To Be Summit. The theme of the second Youth To Be Summit is
“Strengthening and Actualizing the 2030 Global Goals that Start with YOUth.” The second
Youth To Be Summit aims to continuously empower the Filipino youth in turning their
advocacies into a reality by promoting applicable and practical steps in order to attain the
17 SDGs in collaboration with the local agencies, the government institutions, and the
civil society. Youth To Be Summit 2.0 was spearheaded by Mr. Ralph Gabriel D. Buella
of the Externals Committee and Ms. Andrea Joses P. Tan of University-Wide Committee,
under the UST-TPSF President John Renze Red Gelua and supervision of Department
of Political Science Chairperson, Asst. Prof. Dennis C. Coronacion, PhD.
The Political Science Forum believes that the youth remains to be the catalyst of
today’s nation building and from these small steps that the youth makes, big
achievements can be done to attain the 17 SDGs.
