IGCSE – ORAL EXAMINATION

What you need to know?


1. It is conducted mainly around August/ September, before your written exam.
2. It will be fully recorded. (Even if you need to ask question, you will have to try to
speak in English).
3. Before you begin, the examiner will ask you to state your candidate number and
your full name.
4. Then, there will be a WARM- UP section. (Usually 2 – 3 minutes)
5. The examiner will then ask you to look at your exam card:
i. The examiner will explain what you need to do.
ii. You will be given 2-3 minutes preparation of your speaking test. (You are
not allowed to make any written notes during this time). YOU WILL BE
RECORDED THROUGH OUT THIS PROCESS AS WELL.
6. The MAIN PART of the test: You will begin to converse with the examiner. YOU
MUST ATTEMPT all GIVEN TASKS/PROMPTS. (Usually take about 6-9
minutes) BUT, if you do not converse a lot, the time will be LONGER.
